the second chapter in the "revisited" topics.
I will combine the wheelhorses into 1 topic.
starting with the oldest, a pair of 1961s, the 551 and the 701 suburban.

the 551 was an older resto from the 90s, I buffed out the paint, repainted the rims and seat, added a sticker kit and that's as far as I ever got with it. maybe this year I will get it running, it's all there. powered by the lauson engine, it's a neat machine, aka the nut roaster

the second is the 701, I love look of this one, all original, scuffed waxed and oiled finish, the rims I painted, it was missing the original square seat, I added a round style to try to match the patina finish. basically just went over the mechanical end. it runs and drives great. I have the original deck too for it, I don't use it, if and when someday I will put it back on for show use.

next time will do the 854s, and the commando 6

The old wheel horse stuff sure was pretty....

That's one tractor brand I've always wanted to try to restore.

next part of the wheelhorses the 854s
these were the last if the round hoods made in 1964. when I got the first one, it was parked outside, it was some kids ex puller tractor, had wheelie bars, stack, pulleys miss matched. I put it all back to stock, engine ran ok, had a stuck valve. it had weird issues, charging, cutting out, etc... after chasing and fixing the usual, I rewired it and it seemed to help. I cut grass with it occasionally now.
the second one I've been writing about, it started with the parts in the photo, and just kinda took off as a challenge to see of I could piece it back together. I think the end is near, but I don't think it will ever get used much, I think it will just be a show piece.
