Hi Chris I had one once yea well built I didn't mind the hydro control but I thought it was a bit clumsy and steered a bit hard and hard to work onThose Ariens are good tractor but I just couldn't get comfortable with the hand hydro control.
This is the key to the whole thing. When searching for a tractor I tried different hydro's. The JD with the two foot pedals worked the best for me. As a side note we were covering strawberries Thursday and I wanted my wife to drive the tractor while I pulled straw out of the loader bucket and covered plants. She wasn't going to have any part of that. I did finally convince her that it was easier to drive than her car and she tried it. Didn't take her a couple of minutes to get the hang of it and she was off and running even seeming to enjoy it. Made it a lot easier for me too.All in what one gets used to.
Hi Kenny I don't think so the hydro shaft is round with a key and is notched for the lock boltWonder if that would fit my JD 316. What size is the shaft/spline out of the hydro?
Would take some rework for sure. If no one else want's it for an Ariens, let me know!Hi Kenny I don't think so the hydro shaft is round with a key and is notched for the lock bolt
If your talking about the rear with the cast in lower three point arm mounts, then it would be the 400, that's the only model that has them.tempting since I have 2 of those machines with rear PTO.... if I needed one "now" I couldnt find one.
one of those with F&R PTO needs a front one, coil cuts out. (I might have a spare for the fronts, hafta look) But I definitely don't have anything spare for the rear PTO.
On fitting the Deere, unless these Ariens were from the 1st 2-3 years they were made ('72-74ish) they would have the same sunstrand hydro that many JD GTs had. so it's a possibility. and I forget which JD (400 maybe?) had the same model rear end as well as the Ariens.
There going to be for sale in time both front and rearSo what are you gonna do with that pto setup?
Yes I'm sure but there are a number of parts just which one or all?Would you have the link that changes which end lifts?
Not the knob and rod that sticks out to the side beneath the operator's left thigh bit the link that that rod attaches to beneath the fuel tank?
Hi Doug not this year I'm kind of slow some days staying home seems like a good idea haven't tried it yet I'm afraid I might take a liking to itYou are probably going to have all of your winter projects done before the actual start of winter like last year, Gary---LOL! You have one more day!
