My new hauler

I looked into the Crosstrek, 25k OTD, 700 dollar 1.5" lift and 215/75/15s with nice wheels is another 700. I'd like to drive one.

I like the looks of the Crosstrek, but Subaru only puts in the 2.0L, pretty sluggish compared to the 2.5L/ 2.5L turbo.
I kind of like the older Baja's too.

I'll sacrifice a little fuel mileage for the room and comfort of a full size pickup.

I agree but I don't have a need for 2 pick up trucks. My truck sits at home for when I need to haul trash to the dump, pick up stuff at lowes, haul a tractor home ect, but I keep a second vehicle for a daily driver.

Yeah, I read they only have 152HP which I guess maybe I'd have to drive it, I drop a chevy cobalt with 150ish horse for a couple years. It ran great. My days of wanting sub 5 second 0-60 cars are over. As long as it makes it there eventually I'm good.

It's getting to the point where the only thing worth buying is a pick up. There definitely isn't a single car of any brand made in at least the last 15 years worth buying. Everything in that time frame is just too small. I wish that you could still get a car the size of a 70's Monte Carlo, charger, t bird, etc. That's why I still have a 78 Plymouth sport fury. Yes it's parked during salt season. I hate little cars. And cars low enough that I find myself rolling out of. I'm 5"11, 225lb with a bum knee and have trouble getting in and especially out of alot of today cars.

Precisely why I am still driving my 04 Avalanche. Right at 200K miles but I did notice a little puff of smoke when I started it this morning. Qt. to 3K so will keep a closer eye on it.

I haven't owned a regular car since 2007. One concern I have with owning a car is the seating position. I dont have trouble getting out but sitting with my legs straight out with my butt close to the floor in a car causes my right knee to ache very bad after 20 or so minutes. My jeep sits like a truck. More like chair. Legs down and my feet just out in front.

Wifes van is the best seating position ever with big arm rests. Love that.

After driving this thing for about a month, I like it better than the Dodge, better fuel mileage, tows and hauls great, been driving it almost daily as I have to fix something on my Subaru, only thing I really need is an underbody tool box.

Get as big of boxes as you can stuff in there. My ‘96 had an 11’ bed, so I put 4’ ones behind the cab and 2’ boxes behind the duals. My wife thought it was overkill at first, but they fill up quick.

Golly, I miss that truck. If it would of been 4wd I would of kept it. Diesel, stick, reg cab, 225,00 miles, and smoked like a state park on Memorial weekend.

Still very happy with this truck, been driving it daily for last 3 week's, subaru had a bad head gasket failure, getting rid of it and going back to one vehicle, fuel mileage difference isn't enough to make the cost of the car worth, I get a loaner when it's at the dealer so that isn't an issue either.

well my daily driver, and the wife's, are both pickup trucks.

I dont use truck enough to justify that. I have used my ranger maybe 6 times this year and that's just to run to lowes and honestly I could of just used my jeep for a 3 of those trips.

My jeep doesnt get any better mileage than a truck though. Probably worse than a brand new full size honestly. I average 17.

I have a 2003 f250 with a 5.4 and it’s not a bad truck. After replacing the exhaust manifold and some other typical things it has been a reliable vehicle. I bought it a little over a year ago as a beater and plow truck, a purpose which it served very well last winter. It tows decent, but my daily driver/ work truck is a ‘99 f450 with a 7.3, so the comparison makes it seem gutless. Regardless, good luck with the truck! I think you’ll enjoy it!

well, whether I actually "need" a truck or not, I prefer a truck ride, and sitting up a bit higher, even in a smaller truck, over most of todays cars, while they are semi roomy once inside, climbing out can be another story. I don't like FWD, or sideways engines, either.
though I will say that though my wife likes it better, my newest truck/ a 99 Dakota 2wd, has a bit too soft a ride for me so far.... my 92 was better in that department..... still looking for a 1/2 or 3/4 ton, reg cab or maybe cab and 1/2, 8' bed, that isn't white..... seems white is all I can find in a conventional cab around here..... nother story.

well this idiotic state just jacked up title fees AGAIN// not at all long ago title transfer was $13... then $95 and now $150 before you order plates..... and that is going up another $50 as well, as yearly renewals are too, next Jan 1.... another reason to run what I got right into the ground, fix if fixable, and keep what I have now even if something "different" comes up that appeals to me more..... minimize how much they are allowed to steal from me.....and as soon as my '96 qualifies for "antique" plates, it will get them..... much cheaper.

I've ran this truck for 9 months now only major thing I've run into is the coolant tube from the water pump to the back of the motor, under the intake has rotted in the back, currently at my buddy's place and will be fixed soon, dumb design oh well, 9,000mi since I bought it and only major issue, not too bad.

Not bad. Have you had to change the spark plugs yet? I have heard there can be lots of problems with that.
Done when I bought it, honestly, I probably won't do that myself, back ones are near impossible to get to, it's getting a upgraded manifold while it's being worked on, dealer did antiseze the new plugs when installed.
