Last summer talking to a group of chain saw nutsn about older chain saws. I told about my brother buying a Allis Chalmbers badged chain saw a Polan model 25. Several years later a coworker brought me a Sears badged chain saw of his to sharpen and show him how to do it. It also was a Polan model 25. I really liked both and they are a ligh weight saw and powerful for their size.

I made the statement I would really like to have one of my own. we carried my brothers in the camper to use to cut fallen trees from the old logging road we were on to get to a hidden lake in Canada, also cut camp fire wood.
I was told by one of the guys that he though he might still have one buryed in his back shed. Called me a week ago and said he did in deed have one and if I wanted it to come and get it.

I told him it it was Ok I would come after the 22nd to get it but after christmas would be fine if he rather. Going to pick it up some time around New years.

I think his was older than this one as it like my brothers Allis didn't have a chain break.

I used a Craftsman 20" 50cc saw today. Was a store return. Some body tried to adjust the chain without loosing the bar nuts first. Had to make a new adjuster and it starts and runs great. To heavy to be comfortable unless your blocking logs all day but man will that thing cut. Those are nice size saws for trimming and light work. Wore out a little Homelite,12" red saw.
 
Congrats some of these old saws are very heavy but nice to have & rebuild. Keep us posted.

I wore out a little 12" Homelite too. It cut trees it wasn't suppose to see let alone cut.
 
Kevin shipped the saw USPS to me, arrived yesterday.
Now I open the box I will call it my Birthday gift since I had one recently. Kevin had put the saw in a tough bag sat it in the box and filled with expanding foam.
He told me the manual oiler has seemed seized up but it worked when I added some oil and pumped it. Removed the carb cover and the air filter looks new and clean. the mix is 1/2 pint oil (30W i believe since I didn't have my readding glasses) to a gallon of gas. I half filled the tank with VP manic in a can 40:1 ratio trickled a bit in the carb and two pulls I have a running saw which sat and idles nice.

It didn't come with a bar or chain so got a old wore out Echo cs400 bar I have and it fits but not sure the oil channal on it would line up any way.
So I am going to find a 14" bar and chain for it and enjoy my birthday gift.

Any one have a oners manual or a sorce for one?

I have a small Craftsman like the one you pictured my Uncle gave me, haven't had time to work it over and get it running.
 
They are a really nice saw for their size.
Going to use mine today I put a bar and chain on it from my 2150 Polan to see if it will oill the chain fit wise.

Sunday evening I took a few minutes to remove the bar and chain off my Polan 2150 to see if it would work on the model 25.
I didn't measure the bar, I believe 16 inchs.

Monday morning after doing my morning chores I fillted the tank the rest of the way with VP fuel fix in a can 40:1., filled the oil tank with oil added a bit of Marvel Mystery oil to the summer mix.

Fired it up and let idle as I walked to a green wild cherry tree I had skidded from the woods. checked to see if the chain was throwing oil and it was doing a good job of it with out the manual oiler but I checked that to.

Cut that Cherry up into fire wood rounds and was nearly finished when it ran out of fuel. Finished the job with my Echo cs 400.
Once finished I took the Polan up to the barn work shop and removed the carb air cleaner cover so I could reset the idle as it kept stalling rather than idle. I also wanted to pull the plug and get a readding off it once it cooled down.

I got tangled up doing other things the rest of the day so didn't get back to it.
gtomorrow christmas eve is a family tangle so most likely be able to get to it then either.

It is as sweet running and cutting as I remembered my brothers.
I am really happy the fellow in Minnesota had read about me wanting one of them
