Did the cruise last night. Several hundred cars and maybe several thousand spectators! First stop Sonic, for supper! Sorry about the smudge on the left side of the pics. I forgot to clean the camera lens.

Cops were driving around playing the "Bad Boys" song on the P.A. The red '56 Chev is one of brother-in-laws toys, red "57 4dr hard top and black coupe are all good friends.

Some pics while parked with co-workers and former co-workers. Quality of the pics declined badly trying to take pics of moving vehicles.

Nice turn out! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome Kenny!

Wow. Lots of nice cars and trucks Doug. Great to see. No ramblers ?

Noel
I didn't see any "Ramblers" so to speak, but did see 2 AMX's and one Javelin. I think the company name had changed to AMC by then? Couldn't get pics when they were around.

Cool rides. Must have made everyone feel good to get out and about a little bit..
Hope everyone maintained " Automotive Distancing " . ;)
LOL! Far as I know the "automotive distancing" was practiced very well! Never heard about any dent spreading!

Thanks for the replies and likes!

AMX became AMC after the Javelin, they went from badass cars to the Gremlin and Pacer.:(

"American Motors Corporation (AMC; sometimes referred to as American Motors) was an American automobile manufacturing company formed by the merger of Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and Hudson Motor Car Company on 1 May 1954. At the time, it was the largest corporate merger in U.S. history."

"AMC purchased Kaiser's Jeep utility vehicle operations in 1970 to complement its existing passenger car business. Beginning in the early 1970s,"

1977 was the first year for the crysler Jeep models.

You could wank into a AMC dealer in 1969 and buy a AMX 2 seat sports car classed as a muscle car, or the Javline a bit longer with a rear seat. MFG 1968 to 1970 and later redesigned 1971 thru 1974

At one time you could have a choice of the AMX, Javlin, Gremlin X, Hornet SC X or a Pacer X.

My mother worked for AMC at a plastics plant, if you had a AMC product you could take a broken part into work and walk out that evening with a brand spanking replacement as part of your AMC owner ship deal.

My brother owned a 1976 Jeep Cherokee cheef the first year for the tricked out 2 door wagoneer platform. I owned a 1977 CJ 5 but wanted a hard top so sold it and bought a CJ7 with hard top.

After owning rhe 258 inline 6 I was not overly inpressed with the 304 V8.

My oldest sister had a Pacer X a nice rideing roomy car and beat the hell out of the at the time girls friends Vega.
By 1977 the only NON AMC family owned product was my 1974 POS Ford 250 4x4.

We did another 8th Street cruise last night. I didn't take any pics this time, but the old beater got caught by a couple other folks. Weather was perfect, but with the covid curve being nearly vertical here now, the only stop we did was Sonic, for supper. Ran 10 or so laps that were VERY slow, pretty much second gear. There were times I could have put a little wear on granny (first) gear even---Lol! It was packed with cars and spectators again!

A person named "Hoot" got this pic at Sonic.

James Norman got this one with us in the background leaving Sonic.

Nice to have those runs Doug. Nothing like that happing here.
My son bought a 2006 GT Mustang this week. 4.6 engine, 300 hp, 5 speed manual. He’s been wanting to put 4 speed manual in the rambler. I’m hoping that this mustang will remove that thought.

I my self prefur a manual shift and not untill forced to buy used truck (gawd the new ones are expencive for a retired guy to buy.) did I get a slush box and has issues.

Also a manual isn't a lot of fun in stop and go traffic. Normally put it in law and creep along.

What transmission is in the Rambler now? Pretty nice Mustang it looks like!

Yes that stop and go traffic is a workout! If we keep doing cruises my left leg will be twice as big as the right leg---LOL!

Couple more pics from Friday night taken by a friend who was spectating with his wife and kids.

3 speed automatic Doug. I don’t mind a standard for a few hours. But not all the time. Drove trucks delivering propane years ago in the city and surrounding areas. Drive ya crazy after a while. Deliver at a house then move two houses, deliver again. On and on all day. So no daily driving a standard for me. A Sunday afternoon or a Friday evenin cruise, driving a standard would be sort of ok. But not much more than that. Learned how to drive in a 58 chev 1/2 ton, standard transmission. Best way to learn. I can get in any thing that’s a standard and drive it. You never forget. Like riding a bicycle.
Ya nice mustang. Have not drove it yet. He’s getting about 22 miles per Canadian gallon.
He’s also bought a 2010 mustang a few months ago. It’s a V6. Mileage not any better really than the V8.
