Possible Hydraulic Setup?

Been thinking again. Dug all this out to look at possibly using one of the pumps on the ST/16 and build a Cat-0 3-point for it.

I have a pulley puller arriving tomorrow so I can see if the v-pulley will fit both pumps. These were used on GM products.

It looks like good potential to me! The MF8E has a old power steering pump (Chrysler I think) to actuate the blade lift cylinder through a single spool valve. I've modified the angle of the cylinder and the position of the valve in the last 30 years, but it has been a bullet-proof setup all that time.

I really like Chris' setup! I think it would be more beneficial to have a 3 point or even a sleeve hitch like that but mine is just the blade lift. That Cub Cadet blade is pretty darn heavy so it sure helps! I'm planning a pallet lift on the front too so the hydraulic lift would be absolutely needed! 2' wide pallets. Forks that will hook to the blade. I'll have to do a sleeve hitch or a non movable weight box on the rear to handle the front load. Still in the works but I think I have materials laying around that will work. Worst part is that the MF8E ain't known for strong axles.

Sorry I hijacked Kenny, just thinking out loud since you have me pondering too!

Here's better pics of the hydraulic system on the MF8E, Noel.

Not a problem. Lets me see what others have done! Haven't gotten the pulley puller as yet, so things are on hold.

I have a similar pump off of a 98 camaro. I removed the serpentine pulley and tried to just install a double V pulley I had, didnt work. The double was too wide to fully seat on the shaft. I have found a single v pulley, just not had time to fart with it, I think it will work. Best part of the serpentine pump, it uses an external reserve tank, I can install a larger tank if need be mounted somewhere else.

Yesterday, I made up a plate to mount the valve/actuating handle on. Used a flap disk on it, then coated it with Rust Reformer. I won't paint it as yet. Need to figure out a mount/location for the tractor. May get the pulps inside today and remove the pulleys from them so I can decide which one I'll use. I'm thinking the vee pulley may not work on the other pump due to the long snout on it. The snow/cold is slowing progress a bunch.

This morning I bought a used double belt pulley of EPAY. It'll be here after Christmas they say. This will help having too much 'snout' ahead of the pump. Weighing options for attaching the pressure hose to the valve right now.
