What did you do with your tractor today?

Put some seafoam in the cylinder head and the gas tank of the hydro last night to try and get the carbon build up out of it so I can adjust the carburetor, and I let it sit overnight into today. I started it up to get it out today and let it run for 15 minutes on full throttle. Well I guess it worked because the shed had ALOT of smoke in it like it was on fire when I first started the tractor, it went on part of my American flag I got hung up, it went on part of my other tractors fender, and when I went to drain the carburetor of gas my bottle had used gas in it already that was yellow and when I was done it was partially black. That said I put some more seafoam in the cylinder head and in the gas tank again for a 2nd clean, and then I cleaned off the plug with some carburetor cleaner and a rag then put it back in. I was going to start it up and let it run again to try and clear it out some more, but my stepdad stopped me and said to not start it again and let it idle but just to let it sit in there then drive it around because that will work better.

Needed to get my plow fix.....and the garden needed prepped. Used my 10" plow to roll it over then I got the 3point Rotospader and tilled it smooth. After it lays a few days and before I'm ready to plant, I'll do finish till with my Troybilt.

Well, more fire patrol with the Yanmar today. Only had to drop the blade a dozen times vs several dozen the other day. It's nice to be able to plow blade to snuff out the embers that re-ignite the dry prairie grasses. Sure beats running around with a shovel.

Dreary drizzle this morning so decided to get the IH 782 started and ready to go. Overhauled a Briggs 16 hp three years ago and put that in to replace the Kohler that was bad. Fresh fuel, couple squirts in the carb and it fired right off. Let it run for a bit and shut it off. Govenor spring was unhooked to get that back. Put it on right this time. Needs a bath bad but it is ready to mow. Did a short 30 min break in after it was rebuilt +30 2 years ago. Time it does some work.

Even though we got so much rain the last couple days, mowing went well with the MF12G. Wind dried the grass some so it didn't stick to everything. Did the entire yard, but didn't try the ditch out front. Figured at that angle it wouldn't take much to slide downhill.

Blew it off with the compressor and brought it in the shop. Did a little trimming around the house and shop, then decided to take the body bag off the mobility scooter.

Got another battery off of a maintainer, dropped it in and checked the oil. It fired off instantly. Brought it in the shop to check it over before putting it to work. Need to do more trimming and get some weeds sprayed.

Replaced the fuel filter on the 1862 yesterday morning. Started it up and went to mowing. First aside hill to the left or going up fairly steep it stalled out. These are areas I have mowed with that outfit for the last 3 years with no issue. Oil was just a bit over full so it is not an oil pickup issue that kills the engine. Put it back in the shed and got the IH 782 out, warmed it up and finished the hour and half mowing without a hickup - till i shut the deck off to cross a rock drive and it would not engage the clutch again. It went back in the shed. So no I have 2 mower to work ona dn haven't got Carolyns Cub 1612 out yet.

I was cutting grass with my 126 last night, and it suddenly stopped moving. I didn’t get to look at it yet, but I’m guessing a pin in the driveshaft sheared. Or something with the creeper gear. Hopefully it’s an easy fix, or this tractor will have to sit for a while since I have other projects that need to be finished first.

I used the 149 to finish mowing, then to tow the 126 back up to the garage. C5F745BF-7575-4212-9960-058BE4B11112.jpeg

Have 2 mowers down myself. Main mower don't want to run uphill or on a left had slope. Fuel filter didn't solve that issue. My backup ran good till I shut the blade off to cross some rock and would not run back on again. Haven't pulled Carolyns out of the shed yet to see what all it will take to get it running for the season. Rainy wet day so far so not to excited to do anything.

Dug out the J.D. 110. 1965 round fender. Cleaned it up some. Put in fresh oil, gas, and a new ground cable and battery. Greased and lubed everywhere needed. Sharpened the blades.
Fired off on the second revolution. Let it run for awhile.
Decided to cut part of my lawn with it. Mowed about a fourth of the yard just to limber it up.
Mowed the north-south alley, the east-west alley, the village frontage and the north side of my shop. About a fourth of the total.
Deck is a little bit on the noisy side. But for 60 years old it did a good job cutting.

Picked up new plugs for the cub 1862 the other day so put them in this morning. Decided to see if that was the problem with it not wanting to run up hill or on a left side hill. Soon as I turned the ky on I saw what the problem was. Low fuel light was on bright red. Can hardly se any of the lights out in daylight. Put about 7 gal of gas in and run it up- on a steep incline. Kept right on tunning so one issue solved. Started to rain so checked the IH 782 to see why the deck would not engage. Turned the key on and hit the switch to engage the clutch. Did that several times and it engaged every time. Have no clue why it would not engage the other day when mowing with it.

Sure a lot of difference between the round fender and flat fender JD110, Rick. The deck on my '69 flat fender is loud too, and I haven't checked in to if the spindles can be taken apart and greased up yet. Still deciding what to do with it. That engine runs so nice but the rest of the tractor sure needs a lot of attention.

That's pretty cool when tractor problems are simple or fix themselves Rog! That Craftsman GT5000 I got for free would start cutting out when I would mow the slope on the drainfield. It dawned on me that when I would raise my butt off the seat a bit up to shift my weight that the seat switch was trying to kill the engine!
