I picked up the first one tonight, possibly going back for the second one tomorrow. They came from a friend of mine and my dads. I got two snowmobiles from him last year, and he mentioned that I could have these too.

The first one is a Polaris 250, 2 stroke, 2 wheel drive. Probably the nicer of the two. He said it was sitting for a year and a half, but I think it was longer. The gas is nasty, and the brake and throttle levers are both stuck. Pull start rope is broke, but it also has electric start. It will need front tires, or at least tubes. It doesn’t look too bad otherwise besides some damage on the front. His kid was riding it and the throttle stuck, he bailed and it hit the stone wall. He said my dad rebuilt the motor in it for him at one time, but my dad doesn’t remember that.

And here’s the other one. Also a Polaris, 425 Magnum. 4 stroke, liquid cooled, 4x4. He has a plow for it. I’ll post more on that when I get it home.

Not sure what I’m going to do with them. I’ll probably get the 250 running and sell it. If the other one is decent, I may keep it. Or sell them both and buy one nicer one.

That’s a couple of nice projects. That 250 would be a good flip to someone’s kid or grandchild if you can keep your costs down. The other one would be nice to have around to take a ride or do some work. I haven’t rode mine in awhile we have been infested with ticks this year.

That’s what I was thinking, and I already know someone that might be interested. He’s been bugging me to sell him my Kawasaki Bayou for his kid. I haven’t rode it for a few years, but I don’t think I’m ready to sell it yet.

We have a Honda FourTrax that Carolyn rides. Mine is a Kawi Big Bear. After I got the Ranger SxS the 4 wheeler didn't get run. Then the engine died in the Ranger so the Big Bear has been the main transportation for me. Times I wish mine was a 4x4 for some of the swamp ground and creek crossing.

I just went and got number 2. He said it was sitting about 3 years, but ran good when parked. The only issue he pointed out is that the muffler is rotted off. The plastics are all in decent shape. It needs tires, but I have a good set here if they are the same size. Obviously it will need the fuel system cleaned and oil changed. The plow could use paint, but looks like it’s in pretty good shape. I have to cut grass first, then I’ll hit it with the pressure washer and get all the algae off it before I bring it in the garage. I’ll probably try to get this one running first.

Those Polaris 4 strokes were runners. We also had a scrambler 500 4x4. Dumped myself off that one more than once. It would just flip over backwards with good tractors and cramming on the throttle.

always had good luck with Polaris products.
My dad has a Sportsman 500 he bought new in 97, and a few years ago he bought a 97 Xplorer for my mom, I think that’s a 500 too. He put a water pump on his once, but otherwise just regular maintenance. My moms needs a water pump too. We always had good luck with Polaris’s too.
Dennis Kirk in Mn. usually has some good buys on tire, etc.
I buy a lot of snowmobile parts from them. Tires I usually get from Steve Shannon, since we get a discount through work, and they can usually get almost anything.
