Another Case tractor project

There now, another Case project done. Got the mower off and snocaster put on the Case 224. Every thing works. So that completes the snow fleet for this year. Well not quite, still have chains and maybe weight to put on the 224 yet.
Any way, next thing to work on is when one of the any 5 snow removal machines breaks down. And that could be on the first snow fall.

Looks good Noel and space left if you need more wt

Ya, that’s all I had Gary. I’d like to put more on, but the prices of weights is crazy. $1.50 to $2.00 a pound is what they want, used ! I’ve been looking at Facebook and Kijiji ads. And not to often you see tractor suitcase weights. And just as expensive. Missed out on a 100 lb set of suitcase weights a few weeks ago. 4x25 lb. price was $150.00 dollars.

Hey that's what there were called around here also, don't see them much anymore but 60+ years ago they were on auctions all the time and many were used as door stops I never seen anyone iron clothes with them and I did see a lot of ironing my Grandma & Mon seemed to iron everything

Found some more weight for the 224. Son some times has a few of these around the shop, with the hoist !, after doing a job for somebody. Don’t know what the rotors are off of, but they are about 15 lbs each. And the space in the middle was big enough to put a 5 lb weight in. So gained about 40 lbs, that’s 80 lbs on there now. So that’s enough. If I get stuck with that weight on there, the chains and their weight, the 3 point weight and me on there, another few pounds would not make any difference.

Wow, Noel! Now you make me regret scrapping 6 rotors a few weeks ago! I would say you are loaded for all the snow mother nature can dump on you!

These are the handles I was thinking of for lifting lids on stoves. And maybe used on the irons too.

Hi Noel those won't work because when ironing clothes the iron is moved back and forth and sideways so it has to be locked on I remember as a kid (many years ago) that some like yours had a lock mech. so that the handle could be removed, the ladies would have 2 - 3 irons on the cook stove getting warmed up, the cool iron would be set on the stove the handle released and attached to a hot iron and away you go until it cooled

It's a tiny picture but the sad irons my family referred to looked like this one from Gary's ebay link. Didn't know all those other ones on his link were also referred to as sad irons. The base of yours, Noel, would have used the handle like on this one.

I wouldn't doubt an oven mitt was used, but people way back then weren't as big of wimps as we are today either---LOL!

They had to be hot but not so hot to burn whatever they were ironing. I would imagine they had to sprinkle water on the cloths as they ironed too?
