Grass seed

Be mowing it before you know it.
Did come up pretty quick.

Yeah Bill it was showing nothing one day then the next it was greening up. Need to spread some more seed and straw in wind blown areas burt have had too many distractions all week. Gonna let the front yars get a real good mohawk going before it gets mowed!

There is one less bird to take out with the BB gun but it wasn't one of those damm doves! This dum@$$ must have flown into a window this morning. I have no clue what it is/was. While I was mowing a dove was sitting on top the light pole making the irritating noise that they do so well---LOL!

Wood Pecker. They are not the sharpest tool in the shed. I’ve had three of them go down our chimneys and ended up in the stoves. When you open up the stove and they come flying out in your face it really gets the heart rate going. not to mention flying around in the house covered in soot. Been a long time but I think it’s called some kind of Flicker.

I've seen and heard woodpeckers banging on steel roofs! The ones with more red on the head. All that hammering probably beats a bird brain up pretty bad Chris---LOL! This one found out glass is fatal too!

Dang, that would get the pulse pounding having a dirty bird fly at your face then around the house for sure!

Looks like a Northern Flicker to me. I think they are in the woodpecker family. We have tons of them around here.

Probably seen it's reflection and thought it was a rival. Growing up, the house we lived in had two big picture widows across from each other, birds would try to fly through and kamikaze in the glass.

Birds usually crash into the picture window. This time it looks to be a bedroom window from where it fell.

We get them crashing into the back patio sliding door ( faces north) than the living room picture window ( which faces south)

They seem to crash into the southwest side of the house here. The trees are on that end of the lot so maybe that is why. Don't think we ever had one crash into the patio doors on the NE side.

That's what I think too, Chris! Smooth sailing, then wham! I gave the woodpecker a nice burial in the back yard. No good place to throw dead animals around here.

I remember a discussion about how bad grass seed is anymore but don't remember where it is or who was posting on it. I am going to need to seed some dirt in the front yard where the new water line was dug in last December.

Do any of you folks have advice on what to buy? Don't need any fancy grass. Hoping to maybe get something at Runnings later this week. The rest of the yard is still basically the hay grass from when this place was still a pasture 53 years ago.

The grass we used to plant the old days, had wide flat blades on it and was easy to mow. Now it seems to have a lot of what we call here Wiregrass. It’s very narrow blades and it’s hard to cut.

I suppose this stuff will be wiregrass too but it beats mud I guess.

This stuff started growing within a week. I had my reservations that it would grow at all, especially in this soil here. Directions wanted Ph samples of the dirt and a fertilizer. I did niether.

Spread some more seed and laid down mulch in in areas in the front yard that got wind blown or I missed this afternoon. Still have some areas around the shop and a few stump holes to do behind the house.

Tried to get a dove on top the security light pole with the old BB gun yesterday. I think it is worn out. Wouldn't reach to it. Probably about 7-8 yards is all I was trying to shoot. Should buy a new one I guess.
