Brought this project L home a couple days ago. My cousin owned it and its been torn down for a long time so I will start with an inventory of parts. I was doing some work on the hood and fenders for him, but he lost interest and asked if I wanted it. Of coarse I did so we made a deal.

Jumpins, that’s a rare one. In my parts any way. What year and which engine does it have. She’s big power. Hehe. Nice to have cjet69.

There are a lot of boxes with parts that I am digging through and taking inventory. Found a few things missing or needing to be replaced. The one big part was the clutch and flywheel which the PO found in his shop. Next was the manifold was rusted out. Steiner had a manifold on closeout which I ordered and it arrived this week. I found 3 valve springs, one of which was rusted and broken, and also missing 2 retainers along with the keeper pins. These are now on order. The radiator is going to need a recore and I will need to find a magneto for it since it never had one when my cousin picked it up.

The valve springs, retainers, and keeper pins showed up yesterday. I couldn't find any keeper pins for this engine anywhere, but some pins for a continental engine will work with just a slight grind to shorten them.

That should keep your hands busy for awhile

Yep, and the list of projects keeps getting longer. I don't seem to get much time to work on my own projects lately( several years) . Hopefully that will change here soon. I still need to bring home 2 plows and a sickle mower that go with this tractor. Should make a nice show and parade tractor that will see a little work from time to time.

Well, I pulled the caps off and checked the coil with an ohm meter and it seemed good. I changed the condenser because someone had tried to mickey mouse one into the original bracket and it was loose. Did a light touch up on the point, put it together, and still no spark. Pulled the ground button wire, still nothing. I then noticed the point spring where the wires connect looked really close to the condenser bracket. I tweeked it for more clearance and now I have bright blue spark. Sometimes you just get lucky.

A few pics showing the problem area. The red and yellow arrows show where I believe it was grounding and the other 2 are the old condenser.

Oh yea I've had that happen in those tight spots it easy to have something move just a bit and short it out I've slipped a length on shrink tube over the spring to insulate it to help
