Last week when mowing with Country Squire

The replacement engine arrived yesterday got it in the shop looked it over a bit checked the model number and low and behold its the very same model as the old one just 15 years newer so it has the magnatron ignition system a newer carb model and muffler other wise the throttle cable and choke cables connect the same. So later this week I'll work on installing it this should make a good engine

Well I felt good this afternoon so went into the shop and installed the newer engine on the Country Squire, got the bellhousing bolts all in and just dropped the 4 engine mount bolts in the holes. Put new oil in the engine added a qt or so of gas squirted a shot of gas into the carb touched the battery + cable to the starter/gen post and it cranked over great and started and ran beautiful its a keeper.

Been working on the Country Squire engine replacement, its going slow but good, I'm installing the hood now had some problems with the exhaust, it had one of the B&S mufflers that uses a pipe with a flange that the muffler bolts the flange pipe didn't want to come out so I thought ok I'll just use the muffler that was on the engine. Went to put the hood on and hood would not clear the muffler now what to do figured out I could temporary slip a smaller diameter pipe into the 1" nipples and that will work for the time being. So now its to bolt the hood in place install a choke cable connect the engine kill switch and connect the light wires and install the air cleaner. Started the engine yesterday got on the tractor and tried the clutch it works good, so in a couple of days should have it going for this fall and will tidy things up next winter

Makes me think of myself. It amazes me how much both of us have slowed down in the last year. At our age it doesn't take much to take the wind out of our sails does it?.
Your project is coming along nicely. Those pesky exhaust systems are one of the things that I never looked forward to working on. Stripped threads, broken bolts, and rusted out parts are never fun but it seems like we always win with enough patience and creative thinking.
Nice to see your getting out in the shop.

Hey Chris you are so right, I sure have slowed and it just amazes me, I complain to Sharon and she tells me you are 79 you know (I know but it doesn't make feel much better), and yes I've notice your not posting about your projects like in the past. Thanks for the kind comments

Your still making progress GB. Just do what you feel like doing and the rest will wait for ya. For the past 4 month it doesn't seem like I have done anything with the hot weather but only work outside for 1/2 day in the morning and stay out of the heat.
