My Deutz-Allis 917

That tiller is for an older model like a 3300 series or before. Was going to take a pic of mine but the battery on camera needs charged. You might be able to use it if you get the mule drive.
 
Great!!! Help me out and tell me what im missing so i can start aquiring parts, smh....

But on a better note, Harbor Freight tire changer works pretty good, my back hurts like a son of a gun but the tires are on there. (Ya the garage is a mess right now.)

Thats the same tire changer I have.. they work well

only things your missing for the tiller is the upper lift arm which the 1" id pipe is welded to.... that would have a cable to the electric lift, and a mule drive if it isnt included in with the tiller

I mounted my tire changer to a plastic pallet and added 4 chunks of 1.5" steel plate for weight.

Changing front tires today. Cleaned out a bunch of brown and tan colored grease and repacked with fresh. All the bearings but one seemed to be in good shape.

The previous owner must have put antifreeze in the front and rear tires. I could smell the stink with every Tire I took off this thing. Cleaned up the rust on the inside of the rims and sprayed with some silver Rust-Oleum I had.

New tires are on. I had a harder time getting these little guys to seat than I did w the big tires. Had to resort to carb spray and a propane torch. One of my favorite sayings is there are very few problems in life that can't be solved with the proper application of an explosive lol.

Started peeling some of the decals off too, now you can really see that somebody did a hack spray paint job on this thing. Orange is coming eventually. She's going to be a deutz Allis Chalmers I guess.

I have had good luck with the blue kevlar belts. Something isn't right.
 
Im not even sure how it came off, i had to cut that string that came out.

I mow every 2 weeks so ive only got another 2-4 mows to go this season, then the decks coming off for repairs and paint.

Any tips or tricks to checking pulley alignment?

When you take the mower deck off,
The first thing to check is lift the end of each mower blade,
And check for play.
There should be none.
You do this with the belt removed.
Then inspect the idler pulley.
It’s the spring loaded flat pulley.
It should move freely and stay square to the other pulleys.
Then inspect the “vee” groove pulleys.
They should be smooth and not rusty.

I remember when you were considering purchasing this machine.
I recommended it.because of the quality of the machine.
Are you glad you did?

First off thanks for the write-up, I appreciate it. And yes I absolutely love this thing, it cuts awesome. But knowing what I know now I think I gave the guy a little too much for it, but there were no other 917H or 7117s around aside from this one. But I didn't know enough to know that it was missing all the lift components on the rear end.

I used it quite a bit over the weekend to move dirt around my yard that im regrading in a few spots. It will definitely pull a heavy cart of dirt better than the four-wheeler did. And even better than that, I can get off and dump the cart with the tractor still moving, makes spreading dirt a lot easier.

I did notice this last time that I'm owed when the tractor through the belt again it did it in the exact same spot. It's happening when I hit a section of yard that transitions from somewhat level to Steve really quick. There's something going on there that I haven't figured out yet.

I put the belt back on again and finished mowing with no problems just like I did after the last time this happened.

I did notice that I seem to be hearing some faint clicking sound when I go into reverse now. It's really quiet and not really even an alarming sound, but I have noticed it since I moved all these trailers of dirt around. It only doesn't reverse. Closestsound I can think of would be cards in bicycle spokes, but like I said not very loud, just barely there.

I was doing a lot of forward reverse packing dirt down with the tractor before I noticed the sound.

I change the fluid and filter in the hydro a few weeks ago,belt looks good
