My Free Stihl Weed Whacker

I use trufuel in my weed eater. I use one 32oz can a season as I use very little.

It’s tough to screw up premix. Read the back of the bottle. For example it will say something like 32:1 1 gallon of gas to one container of oil.

Things seem to run pretty lean today. When I was a kid running dirt bikes everything was 32:1 and they smoked like crazy!

I never could figure out what is so hard about mixing fuel and oil. I have a card in the cabinet with the oz of oil per gallon of gas for the various mix ratios. A small baby bottle makes it easy to measure out the small amounts of oil. Simple to reduce it to1/2 or 1/4 if you only want a half gallon or a quart. I mixed the fuel for a Poulan gas weeder a quart at a time as it doesn't take much fuel to run it an hour. Besides, I am not paying someone else to mix my fuel for me. Outrageous price, about like buying the 50/50 mix antifreeze.

That seems like a lot at first glance but there’s a lot of urban home owners who don’t use that much gas in a season. Most of those premixed fuels have a long shelf life and can eliminate bad fuel problems.

I won't argue with that one bit Chris. All the "new commers" for lack of a better word our kids are getting taught how fast they can rattle off something we don't stand a chance to understand. Even some of the parents are going that route. 90% of the kids cannot tell time by a clock with hands.

Hi Everyone,

Ok. So I have an update. This past Thursday I went and got a little over 1 gallon of gas in a 1 and a half gallon can. The price for a gallon was $3.00, and I accidentally went a little past that by .19 cents. So I paid and put in $3.19, and I mixed in 2 oz of my walmart supertech 2 cycle oil in the can then shook it up. To be exact and put in order, I put in the 2 oz of oil then put in the gas then shook it up. I have not put it in the whacker yet but hopefully it will work this time otherwise I don’t know what I’m gonna do, besides maybe put it out front for free cause I’ll have more money in it than its worth and its taken up alot of unnecessary room on the shed. I think I did the right thing this time, so we will see what happens. I will keep everyone updated.

Roger is right in that a little oil extra better than not enough. But that being said I don't know if I'd go out and buy more oil just to add an half oz.. Especially since he has no use for the left over. 19 cents of gas ain't much. Can't be much more than a cup. I wouldn't be really concerned this time .

I still have some leftover from what I didn’t use in the bottle in my above post, can’t I use some of that? Your confusin me Bill.
If you have leftover or a little extra yea then absolutely put it in. I was saying if you had to go out buy more I didn't think it would hurt missing that little bit of oil for that 19cents extra of gas.

I quit working on any little 2 cycle as they are mostly just time killers and money pits. Not saying that to deter you from fixing it, as you learn by doing. But these new cordless electric units are amazing and mostly trouble free.
