My Free Stihl Weed Whacker

Hi Folks,

Not tooo much done on the whacker as of late but I do still have it. Finally after putting the correct gas and oil mixture in the tank, I had my stepdad try and start it for me since he is stronger than I am and it ran at a high whine for about 30 seconds. I let it sit for a few weeks then I dug it out again at the end of March 2 weeks before my kidney transplant surgery, and I took off the primer bulb because it was brown and cracked so I figured maybe thats my problem. That said I will have to order one, put it in, put some seafoam in the tank again, fill the tank some more with my gas and oil mixture, and see what happens after that. If anyone else has any other ideas, I am all ears.

For a little over $1 more, there’s a 10 pack on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/DFSFDS-188-5...cphy=1024783&hvtargid=pla-2281435176698&psc=1

Thank you for posting those Nick, I checked on both Amazon and Ebay and I saw those too. But I only need the one for this machine, as I won’t have any other machines to put the other ones onto and I want to try and save as much money as possible on this machine so I can hopefully eventually sell it and actually make some money on it instead of putting myself deeper in the hole. Thanks again though

I have a TSC and an Ace Hardware pretty close to me in my state but I never heard of a Runnings before, although I looked it up and they have one an hour and 20 minutes away from me.
I didn't know that Runnings was clear out in the North East! It is my favorite farm and ranch store here. Fleet Farm is way too big and Tractor Supply is pretty small.

Maybe you can bypass the primer bulb and try starting it, before you buy another one. Just hook the two hoses together, or if one of them is long enough, hook it directly from the carb to the tank. You may need a squirt of fuel in the carb to get it to start. If it runs right, then you know that was the problem. If it’s not any better, then it’s probably something else.

About a year and a half ago TS purchased bout 1/3 of the Orscheln's stores, all in this area. Then Bomgaar purchased several of the Farm & Home stores in this area. First thing they did was boot Milwaukee tools and put in a full isle of B&D tools. B&D sells much better than Milwaukee in this area, Bomgaar's has expanded thie voot line, added alot of diffewrent brands ofanimal foods, though some is hard to keepin stock. So far they have kept their prices lower than TS is.

There are some Bomgaars in the Black Hills area but not here in Rapid City. Never went in one to check it out. Maybe next time we are in Hot Springs to visit the in-laws I will bail out for awhile and let them all yak at once and go check out the one there!

Orscheln had better prices, for the most part anyway, than TS, Farm Fleet, etc. Then they got bought out by TS. Prices went up. TS got half of an old Wally World store and Bomgaar bought out a Farm & Home store in the same town not 2 blocks away. Only thing I get from TS is goat feed as their 50# bag is the same price at Bomgaar 40# bag. TS overalls are #12 higher than WalMart 3 blocks the other direction. Pays to shop around but I do not like to shop. go in, get what I want and get the h#&& out of Dodge.

Hi Everyone,

I got an update on the whacker since its springtime and I want it out of my sight this year. Yesterday I had my stepdad help me out to take the old primer bulb apart to see if we can fix it with the new bulbs I already bought at tractor supply last year, well we got it apart cleaned it up and got the new one on BUT it would not snap back into place so it unfortunately looks like I am actually going to have to buy a whole new bulb after all. Unless I can try again. By the the pat number is #4271093 for anyone wondering. I will update everyone again soon….
