Headed out tomorrow morning to pick up a " 1952 " D-14, so the seller says. We know that the D-14 line came to be in 1957 so we think he was mistaken when he advertised it as a 52. He has owned it for over 30 years. It has a wide front and a front loader. Engine might be stuck as we do not know yet. My son went down yesterday ( 2 hours one way ) away. Paid for it got the manuals and repair book on it. Has oil which looks a bit compromised with water but has nice antifreeze in the radiator. He was not able to find a way to try to roll it over then. He is pretty optimistic about it. We will know more tomorrow morning when we get there to load it on the trailer. Going to take along some Marvel Mystery Oil to put in the cylinders if needed. Also taking a Battery to try to get it to roll over. Owner said it had a hand crank but it has been lost or misplaced. It rolls so we will be able to winch it up on the trailer one way or another. Getting the bucket up off the ground may be a chore but we can get it somehow. Tire are holding air. Will get some pics posted after we get it up on the trailer.
Son needs it at his girlfriends place in the winter to jeep the long drive they have open to get in and out during the winter. Having a bucket will also help with their mini farm they have.

Well guys sad news from the trip yesterday. Good news is we are home and alive. Sore and bruised with a coupe of cracked ribs. Son got some seatbelt soreness burn from air bag and bruises on his hands from steering wheel. Yup some ( ok I'll be nice) woman, made a u turn into us about 15 miles from where we were going to get the tractor. Hit at an angle as son was tryin g to avoid hitting her and she was looking right at us and didn't stop until the crash. Totaled my sons 2012 Silverado Duramax ! Bent the adjusting tube on our Bigtex Goose neck trailer. We were not even up to speed yet when it happened as we had just come off the interstate from a dead stop.
He might be going to get it Sunday if our friend can get the time off to help. He is not sure he still wants the tractor , he wants his truck more. Only had it for over a year. New to him last hear.
If they get it back here I will post some pictures.
Glad to of been able to walk out of the hospital together and come home.
Hope your Independence day is going great.
Roger.

Wow Roger, I hate to read about the wreck, but so glad everyone walked out of the hospital! Sure hope the irresponsible driver's insurance covers as nice of a truck, trailer repairs and medical bills!

One before and the rest after.
So glad my injuries were the only severe ones
To my son and I.
My heart breaks for our son , the truck was his pride and joy. Only had it 9 months.
Best pictures I have was still kinda in shock and pain.
The down tube on the goose neck hitch was bent, but it is usable. May have some flat spotted tires on it but we will see.
Our son and his friend are picking up the trailer tomorrow and going about 30 miles to pick up the D-14 to bring it home.
I will post pictures then . Thanks for the kind words.
I am still hurting and sore with a seatbelt bruise but I am progressing.

One word... Damn!!

That lady should have her license revoked! What an inconsiderate move on her part. Hope she got her mascara on or the text out or whatever she was doing.. I see drivers on the road doing incredible things like driving a car is second to everything else they have to do! Glad everyone will be OK

Water / AF in the oil is pretty common with these.. It means the head gasket is compromised. If you pull the head you might find cracks in the block between the sleeves.. Clean things up and put sealer on the cracks and on the head gasket and it will be fine.. Happened on my neighbor's 'C' a few years back. Its been running like a champ since.. Good Luck!

Update. Our son is headed back to work on the Great Lakes tomorrow on the freighter ,The Joe Block. He will be a wheelsman for the rest of the season.
He is still in some pain but not as much as he has been. Thank god he had no broken bones or other injuries that would of prevented him form going back to work.
I am still nursing some cracked ribs and cant stand being inside not doing anything. I did get to the garage a couple of days and straightened up some tools that was cluttering places. The ribs, chest and back are not hurting as much as they were and I am glad of that. The pain I can take but I am just afraid to do much at my age to possibly separate the ribs and cause more problems. I am usually on the go all day long outside so it is hard to sit by and do nothing.
From the 3 day ice storm in march we still have about 2 cords of pine cut up to split. My wife said if I get the splitter out and prep it she would carry the rounds to the splitter and all I had to do was pull the lever on the splitter. This morning we got that accomplished but stopped when the temperature got to the mid 80s (F) and the humidity got up in the 90s as well. Got about half done and the rest for another day.
I got a copy of the accident report and well lets just say I am not impressed. Lots of little things wrong and in wrong place and other things that if I were still working the road it would of been kicked back to me with a note saying fix this now.
Cant say much more at this time but not happy at this point.
Have a great day guys and gals, stay safe stay cool and have fun this weekend.

You take care of yourself. Setting and pulling the lever is one thing but yanking pieces that are stuck on the wedge needs to be reconsidered. A person inclined to do that without even thinking about it. We don't want to see the wife get hurt.
