Next JD project.

Pieces all fitted. Take them out now and clean up every thing. Give it a couple of coats of paint. See what I got or get some good paint. Hehe. Then put it all back together.

The metal I used to fix the snow thrower, is a old side panel off a propane stove. Hehe. This side panel fixed other projects too.

There all clean. Hehe. Any way. Will sand it, couple little rust spots to sand out good. Going to cut grass tomorrow. Need to get bolts and paint somewhere too. So won’t be much done tomorrow on it.

Sanded couple of rust spots and the rest of the bucket. Can’t seem to get JD yellow at any hardware store, and no, I’m not goin to John Deere to pay the big prices for paint, any way found a 1/2 gallon of yellow paint here. Rust coat is the brand. That will be good enough. Painted the spots I fixed and rust spots. Will wait till dry, maybe tomorrow. Those rust paints seem slow to dry. When dry I’ll put in the pieces I made, then two coats of the yellow, with hardener, applied with a brush.

Whyt do you think I am doing my 316 in all yellow (not JD yellow either).

Looking good, Noel! I don't blame you for using a similar color rather than matching JD color. Got to do what the wallet can handle, and better yet, use what is already in your inventory. I bought some metallic silver/grey today, at Ace Hardware that I hope will be sort of similar to MF flint grey I think it's called. Probably going to squirt some paint on the MF1450 grill since I have it off to bang it into a useable shape.

Last John deere yellow I bought came from lowes at 5 bucks a can. Rust-oleum brand.

Welded a deck for a friend and used that to repaint it when done.
Honestly 5 dollars a can isn't bad..
Though I think the yellow you have and bushing it on will be more durable than any spray can ..especially with a hardener.

A little more done today. Paint I put on the other day was dry, so I fitted in my pieces I made and give those a paint job. When that’s dry, a day or so, I’ll paint all of the bucket. I’ll do that twice. Let dry in between coats. And I’ll put hardener in the paint.

It's coming along nicely, Noel! I can wait to see it in action though---LOL! Don't even want to think about the "s" word yet!

I’d rather not use it at all Doug. Hehe. I should put the mowing deck, that I fixed up and painted couple months ago, on the JD, that would help with engine break in. I’d rather see the mowing deck in action than the snowthrower. For sure.

Noel

Second coat on the thrower. I’ll clear coat the auger next.

Ok , so auger is clear coated. Just tremclad gloss clear, but seems to work good. Snow slides right off. I use it on my snow plows, snow shovels and other snow throwers.
Thrower and auger should be dry tomorrow, so I can start reassembly.

Agreed, Noel! I plow snow rather than use a thrower but still the same idea! Rather not use them at all!

That Tremclad sounds like good stuff! I'll have to check around and see if it is sold around here anywhere.
