I wonder if it even worth trying to find a crank so I can use it on the mini bikeThat nut is likely covering threads for a clutch similar to chain saws. Don't see them often though.
From what I seen these came with a 3hp flathead briggs and I got one.Probably not worth the effort to put a different crank on it. What frame do you have? I personally wont put anything less than a 5hp on a minibike. Hs50 or hs50 is perfectly sized.
We decided to fix it up for my nephew for his birthday so it getting a 3hp predator since they have holes I can use for a chain guardIt probably did. I'm not sure what that one is probably mid 70s such and such. Looks like a Penny's model...maybe a bird or cat built bike..
If you are a skinny guy. 3.5hp might get you around but at 235lbs a 3.5hp on a bike wont get me rolling without using my feet to shove off. A 5hp will throw me off......hard to believe 1.5hp makes that much difference.

Not going to use that engine because of the shaft. the briggs flathead I have doesn't have the 4 holesOmbwarehouse.com has a lot of good parts.
The 4 bolt holes in the rear cover on the tecumseh will hold a chain guard.
