I recently got a Wheel Horse C160, which made #5 of the garden tractors I have. It has reignited my desire to have a garden, which has set dormant for the past 2 years.

I had to order a belt to drive the tiller and it came in Friday. Today, I had a couple of hours to do some tilling! I really like this machine!!

I have seen those tillers for sale, not sure how model specific it is, aka what other wheel horse tractors it would hook up to, looks like a pretty good unit.

Where are you located that you can till the 1st week of January?

NW Arkansas.... mild winter so far. Lots of Bermuda grass that is dormant. We have had some nice rains lately and the ground was pretty good for tilling..... just a little wetter than ideal.

We have four seasons here, but it never gets cold and stays cold. We’ve had zero degree weather this winter, but today was 60+.

You northerners haven’t gardened until you’ve had the joy of growing stuff in a hot climate that supports this grass. I have always said.... “if you want Bermuda to fill in an area of your yard, till up the area and make it think you are going to grow a garden.” It’ll grow like mad!

I am out to the fence lines now so can't go any bigger. It's the vine crops that take up the room. Planted one hill each of Bird House Gourds and Lemon Cucumbers. What a big mistake that was. Couldn't cut the vines back fast enough.

Kinda like me here ,I could till my garden here in NW Missouri this year right now,I need to grade the back driveway up at the shop and have 4 loads of gravel hauled in and spread it around. We have been anywhere from 40 to 65 degrees for several weeks now.Still plenty of time for snow and cold though if the weather wants to change around though

Great looking rig. Engine is a real powerhouse and that tranny puts a lot of it into the ground.
because of that, with ground engaging equipment, some of them had a little bit of a problem where the transmission bolts to the frame.
It seems to be mostly with units that have snow plows or snow blowers, but have been told it happens with rear attachments as well. The plate that the transmission bolts too, will get cracks at the bolts. and eventually pull loose.
Just something to watch for.

MH81.... great info! I will definitely check out mine and keep an eye on it.

I anticipate that after I prove to myself that this C160 ploughs good, I will stick with my Speedex 1631 for that job and the C160 will be for tilling and cultivating.

Once I am satisfied that it is time, I will most likely sell my 1966 Cub Cadet 123 (hydro, tiller, mowing deck, no sleeve hitch) and my 1994 Craftsman GT6000 (hydro, mowing deck, front blade, Brinley plough).
