Tilled with my new Wheel Horse C160

Nothing prettier than a bright red tractor working the ground.

We picked up the garden seeds yesterday at Menard's. Way to wet for ground work yet. Woh't be any potatoes planted on Good Friday this year. I always plant the potatoes, regular and sweet on a ridge of dirt, not down in furrow. Lot easier to maintain, they dig much easier and the rows are usually 2' apart. Plant canopy helps keep the weeds down between the rows. Only use the tiller to prepare the ground for planting. Once it is planted I use a cultivator on a GT or a power weeder.

That is one beautiful tractor and tiller combo.
Once the garden is planted are you tilling with this set up?

:D Al
I probably will..... and/or with my 1974 Troy-Bilt Horse..... or, for the growing season I might install (and leave on) the mid/rear cultivators. My goal is to keep the garden stirred up as easily as possible to make the best use of precious garden time. Once the yard gets growing like mad, I collect the Bermuda clippings and mulch the rows.

Boy, did I have fun today!!!! The forecast rains have held off, so I removed the tiller and used the spike aerator on the yard. When I finished that, I got the cultivator attachment out and installed it on the tractor. After some slight adjustments on the shanks, I stirred up the dirt between the rows and also in the area that I have not planted anything yet. I LOVE that cultivator! I can see that I will keep it on the Wheel Horse for the gardening season.... it will make short work of keeping the weeds in check until I can get everything covered with mulch.
This Wheel Horse is worth it’s weight in GOLD!!!
