Welder issues

All the spool tension spring needs is just enough so the spool of wire stops when the feed stops, no more than that. This can be easily done by pulling the trigger while watching the wire spool and making needed adjustment. Once finished release feed tension and roll the wire back on the spool.

On my 140 the connection from the gun to the box also called comes loose once in a while. Can’t tell just by looking at. With just a half turn it’ll tighten backup and the gun works again
I sorta abuse this thing, it rides in the back of my van and with me traveling 50-150 miles a day it sees a lot of vibration and bouncing. Hate to say it but that old 125 tool the abuse this thing has a lot more plastic in it.

I am not a professional welder but I had repetitive problems with wires getting stuck (in the tip) and the problem was that I was using cheap wire. Don't remember what brand of wire. I also had poor weld quality (unstable arc, weird looking joint) with another brand with a spool that was given to me. Since I hate wasting resources and I don't have much time to waste, I only buy Lincoln Electric wires. May or may not be the best but their quality is constant and I never had any troubles with those wires yet.
