What are you currently working on??

Got the outboard motor out of the garage and mounted in the tank... The first part of that was cake, the 2nd a struggle.
I got it off the horse I made for it back in 1997 and onto the garden wagon easy enough, but in the bulk tank wasn't so easy. I wheeled it to the tree where I had set the tank under, within which I built a helluva stand for inside that tank. My son has a 1/4 ton comealong (never seen one that small, the handle is about the same length as a normal 1/2"ratchet and very small link chain. I think this motor is around 300ish lb.
I went to hang the comealong in the "v" of a tree limb and the first thing I could find was a cable with factory formed loops. Draped around the branch as a sling, the chain on the comealong wasn't quite long enough so I had to use it as a choker to get the length.
I juuuust got it hanging and dangling barely off the ground and the dead end of the cable decided to pull out of its factory applied crimp and down it came. It mostly slid down along the tree that I was using to lift it, so it fell "easy" but landed on the front of the carbs and cracked the air intake that bolts on the carbs... Looked like pot metal rather than the cast aluminum I thought it was. So I scrounged and found a nylon endless lifting strap from my days at the steel mill and tried again, this time success...
It's out of the garage now and mounted in the mini bulk from now until it sells. .. that mini bulk tank as a test run tank is gonna work out better than I even thought.
Though using that staircase nose down as a test stand within the tank that came from moms house, came to a screeching halt when I started cutting it down to fit in the tank... That staircase was like balsa wood, I'm surprised nobody fell thru that thing, yikes. So I ended up building a different stand in that tank from scratch.if it wasn't so rotten it would have been perfect, even if id have had to cut it down to fit...

I found an air intake assembly on eBay to replace what I broke cheap enough, but probably won't advertise it for sale until I get the parts and put it on... was hoping for it as a centerpiece of my sale next weekend.
Had to go to the campground for mother's day cookout.... My wife wanted to be there ,2 hours before they said food would be served and stay all day, all the while I'm getting aggravated as she wants the garage sale too but is doing all she can to keep me from working on prep... Thurs nite we "had to" go look at a camper, right then. I had other plans....

Years ago when I had boats I never used a test tank. I had a couple sizes of water muffs that clamped around the lower unit where the water intake is. Hook up a garden hose, turn the water on and fir it up right on the boat or stand. Usually did it out on the lawn so no wasted water.

The outlet port on that motor is out the back and is more of a spray. As long as your getting water out the outlet the thermostat will control the amount of water that goes through it. I used one on my 200 hp Merc and it put a good stream out the left side with the muffs. Those old Evinrude and Johnson V4 outboards were a real heavy brute and boy did they love to drink the fuel.

Yeah I've used those. I didn't think they would feed enough water for this big of a motor
I thought that Evinrude looked big. How many HP is that one?

This one is a 115. Dad had bought one of the original 50hp V4's and the boat we had, we had in the water twice with that motor on it. Was a '59 model, I believe 2nd year for them. We put it in the river and wide open it would barely crawl against the current. So we sold that one and years later I found this one for him. I built an oversized sawhorse for it and we fired it off of a set of muffs very briefly. I asked dad to let me bring his boat home so I could mount and rig it and he said "you just want to use it" well yeah .. after all the work we all put into it for it to sit like it did and Dad sure wasn't in any condition to do that kind of work anymore. So we got into an argument during which I said something about he'd probably be dead before he got to ride on let alone run that boat and he said something about "more important things" so I loaded this motor up in my old van and beelined for his house and dropped it off said "well then here, you deal with it", and there it sat. That was fall 1997. And Dad died in Feb of 98.
Mom gave away that boat about 5 years ago or so, but for some reason tis motor never got drug out of the garage to go with it.... I was gonna put it up for sale then and was told not to for some reason I still don't know..... What was my mom gonna do with this thing sitting in the corner of the garage? So now I have it back.
The boat we got it for was something like a 1972 (forgot the brand) 17' tri hull with double fiberglass shell. It was a HEAVY thing... I remember fighting with it, having quite a few pretty good sized guys trying to flip it so we could sand and paint it back in the 80s. . And sand.... And sand... And SAND some more. And working fiberglass resin and cloth.... And more sanding....

Started fixing the recently acquired Wheel Horse mower deck. Removed the rear height adjusting brackets. Then made an weled on a patch. Drilled it for the mounting bracket. Reassembled for a test fit. Need to disassemble and paint the repaired area.
Would like to mount this mower on my C141 and test mow by this weekend.

Working on running a garage sale.
I'm beat already.
I started bringing stuff out Tuesday after work, I had to go get a neighbors grand kid that was visiting, (he's there every day after school) to help me empty the shed.
Having a 14 yo that's about 6 foot 5 to hand stuff to off a ladder was a huge help.
Been trying to get Stuff out since last Thursday but the wife has been dragging me everywhere else but here to work on getting ready
Thursday night after work I was wanting her to help.me start setting up No. She's hell bent about us buying a different camper . She had us set up to go see one line " now"...

sunday we had to go to the state park where my son was camping out for a "mother's day brunch" thing that was supposedly at 2:00
Only the wife told them we'd be there at noon. We left the house at 12:15 and I was getting screamed at the whole way there because we were going to be "late". The campground is 15 minutes from the house.jeez... then we finished eating, got the mess cleaned up and I said let's go... She kept saying "few more minutes... Few more minutes". Ahe thought we could get 2 garages 2 attics and a shed plus a trailer unloaded in like a 1/2 hour before our start time this morning.... She wouldn't listen to me trying to get her to understand that that wasn't enough time. I STILL don't have everything out and we've been open 6-1/2 hours/ but I can't be pulling stuff out of the attic while we're swamped. And she has no idea on pricing on 98% of what's out there.
We had to turn on the house air as it's 97* (not a misprint and not counting "feels like" temp)! and 86* in the house with 5 ceiling fans running, 2 desk fans and the windows open. We got the house closed up and the fans are still all cranking full blast but the ac is taking its sweet time in cooling it off in here my AC was
Brand new last July. . We have a lull right now and I'm watching thru the picture window,
We've been pretty steady, I've been trying to get away to go get a can full of gas but can't.
We just had a crazy rush right around noon. There are 2 sets of husband and wife that have been here 3-4 times each. Gotta go some more just pulled up.

Ok a drive by, they didn't stop...
Sold a lot but still a lot to go. Have a set of lug/bar tread 23-10.50-12 GT tires out and have had more questions on "do I have this size or that size" than interest in those. A set of mounted turfs the same size right next to those, nobody has asked about.
Had this one guy absolutely BUGGING me to death about if I have any vinyl records. I had 2 piles of them I've been wanting to go thru but at his nagging I haven't had a chance. Lots of steely Dan, pink Floyd, America, steve miller, journey, etc that I wanted to look thru. I was looking for different size GT tires and this guy came back from his "Dr visit" and I hadn't had a chance to look for those records let alone look thru them and he's back bugging the hell out of me while I'm trying to deal with someone else. The GT tires guy ended up leaving because of this guy.
I have a couple of bikes I've been trying to get aired up and out there, the pain in the ass guys wife asked about bikes I tried to go in the garage and dig them out, and I could feel them breathing down my neck... I didn't want people I don't know in there.... Finally the wife did get that I was getting frustrated with them... She did buy my Schwinn varsity from me. The Schwinn continental isnt for sale at the moment.
I finally got into the garage attic to get out what I wanted to from there.
I've been trying get under the house to turn on my outside water spigots so I can fill that mini bulk so I can fire up that Evinrude but haven't made it there yet either.
I've been also trying to get the deck put back in my GT16 so I can get that out front / but can't get back there for more than 12 seconds at a time. I did bring one guy into the backyard for a look at that though
I'm beat. Gotta head out and start putting some back inside as we supposedly have storms coming in an
hour or so... I've put stuff out, put stuff back into the garage and shed because it was supposed to rain and didn't.... 2 days in a row now. Today is supposed to be severe storms though
Have 2 easy starting good running push mowers out here.... Crickets on them. A few people asking about Dad's old workbenches but they're still here. Swapped out our entertainment center for moms and nobody asked about that... Solid real oak plywood, not a bit of particleboard and crickets again.

I just got a JD X540. Not got it home yet. After back surgery and hart surgery 3 weeks later, I'm not able to do much work yet. So I just bought one.
Man, 2 surgeries back to back, glad to hear you are back up and getting back at it.

I've had issues with the FF24 since I bought it. I thought I had conquered it after my complete front to back fuel system cleaning/rebuild.
Tried to start it last week, would barely idle and would not rev up. Tried it again tonight and was watching the fuel filter and it look like and emulsion swirling in there. Went to check the tank and found this, tank is probaly 1/2 full of water, even chewed the neck of tank.

I HATE SQUIRRELS!!!

Never going to have a rummage sale ever again! Selling on marketplace works pretty good for me. Need to get more junk posted.

Too windy to be outside so picked up the shop from a non tractor project I did over the weekend. Glad I got the mowing and trimming done yesterday when it was just "windy" rather than the 45-50+ mph we are having today.

Then I set up the MF12G to see about pumping grease through the deck spindles until clean grease came through, without making a giant mess.

Raised it up to reach easier
IMG_2571.jpg

I wanted to try to put 90* zirks in the grease side so I wouldn't have to use the sideways gun tip. That thing grips a zirk so well that I draw blood when it comes loose sometimes. Determined quickly that it was going to be a giant pain in the @$$ so will keep bleeding occasionally!
IMG_2568.jpg

Found some clear hose that would fit the vent zirk. The dirty grease is very visible.
IMG_2565.jpg

Pumped until it turned clean.
IMG_2566.jpg

Went to the middle one. The hose had clean grease in it from the first one. Can see the dirty grease pushing out the clean.
IMG_2569.jpg

Repeated on the deck discharge side spindle. Have to hold the hose onto the discharge zirk but it works. Takes a little longer than just making a mess though. I sure need to get the well going to do some pressure washing!

The first tube of grease the electric gun got ran out soon as I got clean coming out of the 3rd spindle. Battery is still going strong. Haven't needed the second battery yet.
IMG_2570.jpg

Went ahead and greased the front axle spindles again while it was easy to reach. Since they have never been greasable until a couple weeks ago figured giving some more is a good thing.

Too much to list every separate item online. I will be listing some of the stuff that don't sell that way.
I can't believe how many rakes, shovels, hoes pitchforks, picks my parents had. I sold the SNOT out of those. 2 days to go. And vacuum cleaners, coffee pots, too. Corded drills, saws sanders all 40-50 years old craftsman. Growing up if sears didn't have it neither did we. The power tools didn't sell today. Maybe tomorrow.
Stiff that'll still be working, when that Chinese POS you buy from Menards today is in the trash.

Out in the country we don't thing about yard sales except to attend a few of them. Have a neighbor center that will take about anything so most of our excess stuff goes there. Carolyn knows the gal personally that runs the place. Yesterday she brought in a bunch of smaller stuff and came back home with on big paper shopping bag gull of jeans. Had sale going - anything under $4 yo could fit in the bag was $2. Nope, no yard sale out here.

I've done a couple of these over the years but this is the biggest.
Yeats ago when I work for the auction (long before eBay was invented) they'd have a Friday night consignment sale and the auctioneer would buy any lot that got no bids for $1 and we'd be at the flea market set up on Sunday selling all of those things nobody bid on on Friday night... Same idea as a garage sale except we had to haul everything to the flea market site then set up and take down....
