Spent 2 hours chasing the front of the 1862 lowering the grass once again. Some was a bit wet yet and full of juice and pulled hard but got through it. Need to get ready for mattress delivery so didn't wash the deck out. Carolyn needs to mow her flower area yet anyway.
My stepdad and I went on a couple of rides today….
I have been using rock salt. Bought a cheap bag of softener salt at Menards. Put a couple inches in a five gallon bucket with about three gallons of water. Stir it every time I walk by it. After it has “cooked “ for a few days I strain it into a 3 gallon sprayer. Then add more water for the next go round.
I was late getting to it this year. And with the wet weather the weeds took hold quickly. Sprayed two mornings ago. The front drive and the one to the workshop both get done . Just have to spot spray the rest of the year.

Got my mowing and trimming done Wednesday, and did the grandson’s yesterday. Normally do both on the same day. But with this heat I do one at a time. As soon as the dew burns off I get it done and quit for the day.
When my brother (Traill95) moved to Tennessee I ended up with his electric trim mower. 40 volt system 13” blade. Trimming around all the flower beds, rocks, yard light , sidewalks, trees, and power poles requires emptying the bag twice. But makes it easy to run the big mower through the yard. Cuts within 1/2” of my Kubota.
It is so light weight and easy to push that Edy will trim most of the time.

How long does the rock salt mixture take to be rainproof on the weeds, Rick? I was late this year too due to rain, but even more the wind.
I have a few 20V Worx tools that seem to be very good quality. Tracy left you and Edy a nice little trim mower!

I have no clue as to being rainproof. Forecast showed a long hot, dry spell . Soaked weeds early morning and let them cook. Driveways are in the shade until mid morning, and full sun until late afternoon. Showed signs of stress that afternoon and were brown next day.

Unfortunately we said forget the tractor show today with the rainy weather this morning and decided to stay home…. although its nice now, but I finally got around to wiring up my headlights on my 10 horsepower yellow Craftsman after 3 years with my stepdads help…..

Nice work Eric! This reminds me, I need to get the lights working on my SS/16 too. They did work when I got the tractor, but I think a wire rubbed through and shorted out somewhere.
I put the sickle mower on my Cub, and mowed the sides of our dirt road yesterday.
After that I hooked up my reel mowers and cut the yard with it. It is too big to be practical, but it’s fun. I used the 882 to do the edges.

All of us guys on this forum can attest to that...My wife still wonders when I'm going to grow up..
