What did you do with your tractor today?

I spent a good chunk of the day moving and sorting sections of old iron fencing. Two local townships have a joint cemetery district that I am involved in. One of the five cemeteries had an old iron fence that was installed in 1917. The fence was in need of repair from falling limbs, errant drivers, and old age. Recently a gentleman had his wife interred at that cemetery and offered to replace the fence at totally his expense. We accepted. The gentlemen who removed the fence brought it to the cemetery here at the village and dumped it in the corner. Since we are selling the sections we needed it to be inside the building (before it disappears to scrappers) and sorted as to condition.

I did most of it today after reconfiguring the loader on the JD 140. I didn't get a picture of it in action but I could handle 5 sections at a time. I got plenty of seat time since it was a 100 yard trip to the building. After several trips I got the piles removed and sorted in the building. I didn't think to take pictures until most of the piles were removed, and no pictures of the finished sorting. I'll have to go back tomorrow and take more pictures and count how many sections there were. Right now I'm going to take some Aleve. My back , shoulders and hands are talking to me!

I'd think your back and hands are YELLING at you, Rick---LOL! That's a lot of steel to handle! Anyone who would take that fencing from a cemetery and scrap it is a thief, nothing more. Happens all the time though. That fencing has good value being still used as fence rather than scrap. The cemetery my wife and I will be in is surrounded by "bob wire" since it's in the middle of ranch land---LOL!

Definitely not for a short legged guy to try and step over.
There were 49 sections of fencing. We have ten more coming from where the previous cemetery board president had them stored.
Are they something you can sell. To the right person they can bring a good price.
Jim used a southern accent on it there---LOL! For some reason up north the I in wire does come out as "I"---LOL!

Put 4 tractors on CL yesterday. Inquire on one last evening and again this afternoon. Another I think is sold. Guy is coming up Monday fore noon to pick it up. 3 years ago I listed all my Garden railroad stuff one evening, sold it the next day. Now the buyer has it all listed again for 5 times what he gave for it. Talk about inflation ! But he hasn't sold it yet either.
There's an older wheelhorse I believe around the corner that's been out front for sale with a straight blade all summer long till now. Rear wheels even have the bolt on weights. Going for $500. I don't think it will ever sell.
Put the plow on the Columbia yesterday so that was the first snow pushin for this winter... we havent had much snow yet but the wind on thurs/fri had created a few drifts, worst of them being about 10" deep. It was about -8c so a little cool but still nice enough to have a little fun. Didnt stop for a pic so this one from last year will have to do... tractor still looks the same and works as well as ever
