15 hp Briggs and Stratton engine, HELP!!!

My PSdF folder has nearly 13,000 items and is at 47GB of computer space.
Wow that's dedication!! Well I appreciate that you take the time to do that, and I'm sure there's others who will echo that sentiment. Keep up the great work.

Still working on getting the engine and the other stuff situated in the tractor now. I know one thing, you can't really work on it without taking half of it apart just to reach the problem. You gotta be a contortionist to do some of this stuff!

Well, I got the engine installed, but I have to get a new drive belt, the one that had been on it is deformed from being rolled up I guess. I can't get it to release the drive axle to put it in gear.
I was afraid that something like that would happen and I'd have to replace the belt. You know they make it so easy to get one off and on, I just want to do it several times a day. NOT!!!!
For a little tractor, it sure is heavy!
I hotwired it just to get it going and test things. Glad I did. Don't want to have to swap out some of this stuff after it's all assembled, it's a real SOB to work on with it only half assembled.
I'll get some pictures of it tomorrow in the daylight. Too dark now, and I've given up for the day.

Here are a couple more pictures of the tractor. I modified the dashboard so that it would be easier to get to the regulator and the solenoid. Without that big hole there, you'd have to remove the dash to get to the stuff. There's absolutely no room to get at it with the battery and the gas tank installed. Good thing There's not too much that goes wrong with these things. At least I didn't have any trouble with the Onan engine in the other one.

Well, got more done today, grille is painted and mounted. Added an emblem to it, looks good with the new paint.
I finally figured out how they routed the choke cable. There ain't no extra cable for sure.
Been rewiring it now. Somebody I barely know gave me a schematic for it. What a great guy! (Kenny) So hopefully when I'm done with it, it will crank with the key and charge as it runs. Wouldn't that be nice?
Here's a few more pictures showing the grille.

Now i do have one more question. See how close the air filter housing is to the left headlight? In order to check or change the air filter, I'm gonna have to take the damned light out, or release the grille from the top brace so it will lean forward enough to get the air filter out.
Is this normal? I wish I had been thinking when I decided to take this one apart and had taken some pictures of it. Another great hindsight moment in my life!
So can anyone tell me how close the air filter is supposed to be to the headlight?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Rick
