My personal feelings are that I would much rather drive one like that than one of those huge things. I've only driven a semi truck around the plant and they don't interest me nor would one of those huge motor homes.
I guess when I was growing up we camped in a tent with no floor and woke up to the sound of Chipmunks jumping out of the trees and sliding down the sides of the tent or bears sniffing around the tent in the middle of the night. Now that's true camping fun! But now I would much prefer what Doug is looking at. No bouncing around in front of a 5th wheeler either.
You might be surprised and in a few weeks they might call and except your offer.
I had to have a class A CDL at my former job. We had to pull a tanker to the dump and that job was in a rotation. I managed to get the CDL in 2004 to secure my job, but I didn't like it. Also had to drive a rolloff truck to the dump during that rotation. That was a class B but a class A covers that too.
If I could sleep worth a crap and get up off the ground, we could still do a tent, Chris---LOL! Did that for a long time! The tent is still in a army duffle back up in the loft. Also camped sleeping in the box of the '72 GMC with and without a topper---LOL!
The motorhome wouldn't really be used much for actual camping. More like somewhere to stay traveling. Like if we go to that race in Missouri again we can just use the campground rather than renting the cabin we stayed at the last 2 years. Right now, there is a family function going on down at Angostura Reservoir. We would have taken it down to that. The cabin at the lake has only a bunkroom. I tried that one time. Never doing that again!
Almost had that motorhome today. I got a message on FB that they would take my offer if we could pay tomorrow. They were even going to bring it to Sturgis since they had some business there tomorrow. They didn't message me until 3pm. Our internet was out so was relying on slow phone service. I hate using the phone to type long messages. Anyway she got online while still at work. Her advisor told her she could pull the money from the IRA next day. Nope! She can't get the money until the 23rd. Never fails that they drag a person through the mud to get money that belongs to that person! She should have just pulled out a certain budget before looking for a motorhome but trusted the advice she got.
The seller even offered to hold it until then after some family discussion but I told them to keep it listed in case someone offers more or possibly their asking price.
Spent 2 hours in a dentist chair mid day. The office they had me in I could see Sturdivants Auto Parts thru the window. Decided to go get a valve stem for that tire that went flat on the '55. Picked up a couple extras too. About the time I got home all the motorhome stuff started, but I still got the bead busted and a new one pulled in.
Let it set for a couple hours and the air pressure is holding! Hope fully the tires will last until next year!
Too hot to open the overhead door to bring the truck in and change it. Maybe tomorrow morning.
Got distracted anyway. Started the MF1450 and raised the 3 point. Took the scarifier off and brought it into the shop. Clamped it in a vise and took a cutoff wheel to the teeth. I figured since I got dental work today, that thing should too---LOL!
Cut an angle on the teeth. Don't know why I didn't back when I built it. It moved gravel around fine but needs help breaking up clay.
Put it back on the tractor. Maybe will get to try it tomorrow. We got another 1/4" of rain at 9:30 this morning so I didn't want to try it this afternoon. Had plenty of distractions going on anyway.
Loree and our son headed to the lake. Our daughter came into town yesterday afternoon and went down this morning with her aunt that owns the cabin.
I might go spend the day Saturday, but will come home. Still don't have tires replaced on the Denali---LOL!
