If a guy was thinking, which I was not, when I got my base unit I would have set it up on blocks with the wheels on. Be just as stable and saved the wheels from flat spots.

That's a good idea if the cabinet is going to stay put, Rog! I have to move mine frequently so the wheels need to hold up. One of my roller cabinets is at least 60 years old and the other is probably about 25.
The old one is on the grey one on the left. Was given to me by an old gent after we lost everything in a flood in '72. He put us up for a few days when we first became homeless. That thing was the pride of my bedroom as a teenager! Top chest came from the scrap trailer at work as it was "off inventory". I don't understand that stuff, just throw them away when they can't be found on inventory lists.
Bought the red one around 20 years ago from a co-worker as I ran out of room to put tools.
