Craftsman 917.273100 2000 Estate find

Found them at $5.95 each, not a very good repair shop, took them 30 minuets just to find them. Now looking for the pully spacer. They didn't have them but I found another place.

Bad reviews here. Ludwig Saw

Bolts are the wrong size, hopefully I can get a refund as no receipt was given. grade 5's will be used.

Nice day today so I got an early start after breakfast. Moved everyone out so to have some elbow room in the shop.
I ran the self-tapping bolts into the mandrills, then backed them out. Blew out the chips and use Anti-seize on them.
Manual calls for 27 – 35 ft-lb for the blade bolts, (I used the new grade 5’s) and torqued them to 32 ft-lb.
Top ¾" nuts were cinched with the impact. All ready to mount except for three deck pins, waiting on paint to dry on those.

Deck installed and adjusted per the manual as good as I can get it. The abused deck and linkages are a little tweeked still. Next mowing will tell if I have more adjustment to do. Still need to install tail lights, wires are already run, just haven't found a pair that I like yet. RED is up next for a late winter re-fresh. I'll start a separate thread as this one is about ready for the archives.

Logan will be riding the Craftsman Pro, and I am taking the Roper 20T to this from the house. About 3 - 4 miles each way.

More about the ride there and back, here is some scenery. This is the Craftsman Pro's shake down ride, no issues at all.

Well, first real mowing today with the Craftsman Pro, I am impressed with this and myself! Mowed about an acre and a half and nothing fell off, squealed or leaked, and the cut was level, and minimal clippings on top and under the deck. I think the blades have something to do with this. Was very enjoyable!

Your tractor turned out very nice, new looking even, the care you put into it can't be purchased from the factory. Too bad that tractor isn't something the box store was selling! It would be worth the price tag!:)

Had to use a "little bit" of choke to finish the yard. Here is what I am dealing with. It just seemed to start surging all of a sudden. Seafoam video in the works.

Larry,
If you can rig up a temp has tank, mix 50/50 acetone and gas
Take off baffle and get it up to speed.
Let it run on that mix for a minute and then slap your hand on the carb, totally blocking airflow and remove hand just before it dies, allowing recovery.
Repeat 2-3 times and see.

I can't tell you how many times this has cured sudden odd running.

If that doesn't do it, check the spark, just in case.

New carb arrived! Had to figure out how to remove the plastic clip and small spring on the throttle linkage. Ran into an issue with the throttle linkage hitting the intake gasket. Instead of filing or grinding I found a thicker carb gasket that solved the problem. I screwed in the mixture screw, it took 1-1/2 turns, and I backed it back out 1-1/2 just to check the setting. Also adjusted the idle screw. Calling this done for now.

I may open the old carb up to clean, but need some carb cleaner before I do this.
