Pep talk with tractors !

You can remember your Dad's profession fondly, Noel, but you don't have to re-live it! If you don't have to go anywhere and no important deliveries like propane need to get in, there's no big hurry to get dug out! I find it interesting that the 3 generations you spoke of there all have/had different professions!

You can hit the snow removal fresh in the morning and take pictures for us!

So. No drift cutters on this thrower. So some of the banks I back into and use the rear fenders as drift cutters. Hehe. Holy cats and Jumpins, a lot of snow and still snowing a bit. Had some of the banks at the road fall in on top of me and the tractor while I was driving ahead and throwing. So at least open now in Case of an emergency.

Your giving the Case & the snowcaster a workout and its doing a good job, were you taking full swaths or partial ones, my experience is the good single stage blower get the job done while they don't throw as far as the dual stage ones its good enough for drives and such and when you get to where you want to stop they don't leave a pile of snow like the dual stage ones. 4.3 liters = 1.14 US gals not bad I never think to check and record gas consumption

Yes Gary mostly full swaths. The already throwen snow is harder to throw so I take about a 3/4 swath. Ya. Don’t like the blowers that leave the bank when you back away.

So can’t leave little brother in the garage and not have a go at it. So took the Case 224 out, same thrower as the Case 446. Well it’s a very capable tractor also. A little less power, throwing distance and traction than the 446, but very capable. My change of the 5” thrower drive pulley to a 7” made the world of difference in how the thrower worked. Was useless with the 5” pulley.

And it’s still snowing some.

Didn't get too warm. Mid 20s

But the sun today did a great job of melting the driveway down! I was able to get my wifes side back down to concrete. Broke my snow shovel though. It took a quick swoop and scoop right at the edge of the ice and it would scrape away.

Tomorrow is a heat wave. 40 forecasted!

I'm speechless with all your snow, Noel,---wait---Jumpins! Holy Cats! My oldest sister uses the holy cats phrase a lot---LOL!

You have had to throw so much snow already that it's getting too tall to throw over the piles! I sure hope it's about done with you!

Those Case tractors are doing a great job for you, and some of the ones you have owned longer are getting a much deserved break. Nice job building those tractors!

Hey Noel its a good thing you got the belt problem worked out and that your an equal opportunity user, I was out for about 40 min with the Husky last Tuesday we had 25 to 40 mph winds and it blew snow but we didn't get any new so it was what it could shear off and I only had one drift went from the maple tree out about 15 feet and 14" high tapering down to nothing and 24" wide but man oh man for hard had to use an ice scaper to breakup a 4/5' area at the low end cause the blower would only ride up on it but got it 6" at a time and going ahead about 3' then backup and hit it again but its all cleaned up for now

The banks on the sides are about 5’ or so tall now. If any garden tractor was right beside the bank, I doubt it would throw the over the bank. The Case throwers are short and don’t throw very well. So at the end of the drive way there was so much snow thrown on top of the bank that when you made a pass, the weight of the snow would avalanche down. Right on top of me and the tractor. Really need a sub compact or compact tractor and blower to move the snow away. So it doesn’t land on top of the bank. Need something that would throw at least 30’. Banks are so tall at the road you can’t see up or down the road to see if anything is coming. You have to get a 1/3 of the car out before you can see. So, I will have to shovel the top of the banks off to be able to see. Problem is the Plow drivers. They won’t push the snow back and won’t put the wing down. If they did I could see over the bank where the wing made the cut. But no, all the beepin people complain about the Plow drivers filling in there drive way. Well that’s to bad, that’s what their suppose to do, clean the road. Fill me in, I can deal with it.
There now, a small rant for today.

How would your Plow tractor handle this snow Doug.

Noel
