So,,,,,,,, the Beepin potatoe bugs have started.

Sooooo, all the Beepin potatoes are dug out. Sister in law helped today. Thank you know who.
Less than 100 lbs. Some plants had no potatoes. Some had one big one. And a few were sorts the normal amount.
Sure not like a number of years ago when I had 1200 lbs in a season.
Just can’t do that any more.

Noel.

Did you sell them before when you getting 1200 lbs. a season

I'm late to the party on that backhoe attachment. Was while we were out of town and I missed it all until tonight. I think that cylinder is bent and that area with the black paint was bent too. Was straightened out, fish plated and welded back up but they never replaced the cylinder. Way too much money for that.

Maybe next year you can grow 1200 lbs again like the good old days, Noel---or not!

Nice timing, We finished out lat potato patch yesterday. For the season its about 240lbs. Its not a lot either. Yet storing that much sure takes up a bit of space.

1200lbs would be a wild time trying to store. Bet you got your favorite potato meals that year.

I have to find an easier way to dig potatoes. If I had a 16” one sod plow, 3 point hitch, hook it to the Ferguson tractor. That would be the answer. But finding one is a problem and I did find one, but the fella wanted $650.00 for it. Out of my price range.

Maybe make your own?

This is a common design found in the eastern EU countries. Its extremely effective. Adjustable scoop and adjustable dirt sifter. After the sifting, the potatoes just sit right on top of row to snag by hand.

Wish I had more of the parts manual. But this was on a Polish tractor forum.

There are even China knock-offs of this common device.

Lots of you tube videos on those. They look to work great.

Maybe Jason could make me one this winter, for next season. !!!!!

Noel, I wonder how the PTO works with the device. I see both the front scoop and the dirt sifter on a rocking pivot. Does the PTO rock the scoop to pry up the ground and the dirt sifter to shake the dirt out?

We are on sandy gray soil here. So pulling stuff up is very simple. Even weeds don't get a foot hold, so easy to pull out, even when the weeds are over 2FT high. Goffers hate this soil because their tunnels all cave in.

Yes I would say that’s how it works. Scoop Loosens the dirt so the digger is easier to pull thru the ground.

So bought potatoes today. Was getting low on the ones I grew. A tractor buddie of mine gets these for his use. The last time I was at his place he gave me a few to try. Holy cats they were good. So I got him to get me 50 lbs and picked them up today.
Also got chickens from him too. 7 to 8 lbs each. One for Xmas dinner and two are gifts for son and daughter.
