Tractor comes home for a refresh.

Put the decals, lights, and a few other things yet.

Thanks for taking us along for the ride Noel. Nice looking tractor. I haven't drove mine further than a few feet. Granddaughter will be her Wednesday for a few days and will give her the honors if she wants.

So a little more done. I’m kinda liking it with out the Decals on it. But. I have them so I’ll put them on. A few pictures of mine and of one with the decals.

Put the low, neutral, high sticker on today. Doug, Doug, help help. Me and plastic sticky stuff don’t get along very well. I have a lot of trouble using Saran Wrap. Hehe. Doug could you come to PEI and help me put these decals on ?????? !!!!!!! Jumpins, any way, decals have sort of a non see thru backing. Then a mostly clear front thing, and decals are sandwiched in between. So I can see the decal and the out line of the decal under the mostly clear front covering. Could you give me some tips on how to put the big side hood decals on. Hehe. The little one today I put on, I got finger prints on the back side of the decal. Can sorta see it, ifin you look hard. Thanks for any help.

I know most of the vinyl decals/ graphics made for cars and such you put on with a solution of soap and water. Slide it around where you want it and squeezie the water out and bubbles. Sounds intimidating but its not.
I did a Trans Am hood bird once. My myself....! Also did some clear vinyl on front of a few cars but that's a lot easier..
Using soap and water gives you a second and third chance if something doesn't suit you.

Yeah you can use the wet method, and that will be best for a person that hasn't done it a million times. I can install most dry.

My soapy water mix is about a half to a full teaspoon of Dawn dish soap in a normal size spray bottle. Too much soap and it will dry slower and possibly not stick as well. I am going to define a couple of things. The silicone coated paper that you peel to expose the sticky side of the decal is called the "release liner". The paper on the front that is peeled off after installation is called "transfer tape".

There is a dry way called "hinge method". Tape the decal along one side with masking tape in the position you want it. Try to keep the tape off of the sticker if possible, just on the transfer tape. Flip the sticker over using the masking taped part like a hinge and peel off the release liner for small stickers. For large stickers peel back as far as is workable. Squeegee from the hinge out holding the non-stuck part of the sticker up a bit and tight enough there's no wrinkles. When the whole thing is stuck down, squeegee the entire thing while the transfer tape is still on it. Hard enough to "heat" the sticker a bit. Let it sit for a minute or so and peel off the transfer tape. I'm using a credit card as a squeegee here since most everyone has one. A new condition bondo squeegee can work but they are a bit too flexable. I "hinged" this one on the right side, using the transfer tape, not masking tape.

If you do it wet, you may have to wait for a while before you can peel the transfer tape off to ensure the sticker has good adhesion. Lift a corner and peel back at 180* angle. If the decal is sticking, slowly keep pulling the transfer tape. If the decal lifts, squeegee it back down and give it some more time.

Hope I got on here in time to be helpful, Noel. One more note. If the paint is still curing a bit let it dry longer. The paint "gassing out" the solvents can also soften the glue on stickers, causing them not to stick well.
