What did you do with your tractor today?

About 10 am decided if we wanted to get the mowing done before it got to hot we better get with it. Carolyn mowed around her flowers, planters, etc. wit her LT1018. I started at the bottom and work my way to the house with the GT1862. She was about done when the deck stopped. Quick check show a bad switch so will mess with it later. I finished up what little was left she usually does. She started in with the trim mower, 20" high wheel that is easy starting and not hard to push with the big wheels. Finished up around 12:30 with just a small piece in front to do with the trim mower. It will wait as it is 91° just an occasional tree leaf moving.

Just used these two "modern" tractors today---LOL!

The mobility scooter is running well again after the work I did to it yesterday, so sprayed weeds. I need to look into getting some dye to add to the spray. I miss spots because it dries so fast I can't tell where I sprayed sometimes.

Got that done even though it looked like rain. Spectracide says "waterproof in 15 minutes" and I believe it as the last time I sprayed we got an inch of rain a few hours later. Killed everything I sprayed.

The GT5000 mowed the yard. Used it as the 54" deck covers a lot more ground and the ditch out front didn't need cut. MF12G has to do that and a little hill in the back yard.

Checked the pto switch on Carolyn tractor this morning and it work but did not sound very strong. Put the charger on it and started charging 8 amp right off. PTO engaged a lot strong also. Wil leave the charger on it for a couple hours adn get a good full charge in it again. I don't think the charging coil has worked on that motor since I put it in. Got it from a friend, said he knew it run good and strong but nothing more about it. Been a good motor for sure so charging it every 3 or 4 mowing I can handle OK.

Mixed up 2.5 gal of vegetation killer. 2 or 3 years ago I bought 2.5 gallon jug of vegetation killer and been mixing my own. Cost me about $3.45 a gallon for spray. Works a bit slower than Roundup but a lot safer health wise and don't take as much on the plants.

The Spectracide I use is about twice that at 7 bucks a gallon, but all I have to do is take the electric sprayer out of the empty bottle and put it on a full jug and start spraying. I'm lazy, Rog---LOL!

90% of what we spray is by foot. Can't get a mower tractor close enough to control the spray. Looking for a cheep golf caddy to mount the 3 gallon spray in when I spry for insects around the house, dog pen, lower tree branches where we walk, etc. Darn ticks are bad this year.

Today was the first time in almost 2 weeks it was dry enough to cut grass, it was really tall.

You call that tall grass?
That is what I was thinking.
I don’t necessarily call it tall either, although my stepdad would too. I see a guy near our house with grass WAAAYYY taller than that, probably a foot tall. I gotta remember to get a picture next time I drive by then post it
Replying to these posts from page 174, and to bring up probably a poor subject so to speak. I finally ended up going by the fellas house I mentioned that had the taller grass higher than yours Nick, and also ended up holding up my end of the bargain and trying my best to get a picture. He seems to have cut it but you can see all the clumps.

Yeah, that looks like it was pretty tall. There’s a few people like that around here too. One I don’t think has cut it yet this year.

On place about 5 miles from her has never had the grass cut as long as I can remember. Slept on the second floor with windows open. His folks live there prior to him and were the same way. His Dad removed a window on the North side of the living room. Chain saw removed the wall to the floor, ramp up and drove the front of a narrow front tractor in and overhauled it with a canvas tarp over the open areas. Heated with a wood stove.

There's a guy less than a mile SE of us that never mows, and he must not do any upkeep on his house either. He had a split foyer house as long as I could remember until a couple years ago. Went to work one day and a bulldozer had flattened it. Thought maybe he croaked. Not long after a new double wide appeared. I know it's still the same guy as his boat and pickup are still there and no mowing happens. The women's place next door to us would be the same way if I and her disabled brother across the street didn't mow for her. She has her old trailer house sitting on the lot and the one she lives in doesn't look much better.

Out here where we live about the only people that see the place are the mail man and neighbor but we still like to have the place mowed and trimmed up decent for weekends and especially holidays. Sense of pride to haver a well groomed lawn with the trimming done right.

Used the MF1450 to scarify, then drag the dirt from the water line installation. Think it is almost ready to start seeding. Used the mobility scooter with the yard trailer to get some dirt and haul it to a couple of low spots and level them out with a hand rake a bit.

Abused the He11 out of a nearly 50 yo cub 1250. Mowed the ditch and driveway banks out at John's farm. That wasn't as bad as where the neighbor farmer ripped out some trees and basically left an area that used to be nice lawn area worse than an unplowed farm field. All overtaken by thick brushy weeds and in just this season it's already over the hood of the tractor. I had to go over some areas 3x, and set the thing to scalp, and back over some of it once I picked down to actually chop it all up. This was johns mower , now actually belongs to me. I've been avoiding this area with the Hustler ZTR as I don't want to abuse it that way. I've done the stitches this year with the Hustler but I can get down on there and actually do a better job with the "little" cub. The tops of the banks aren't bad but especially along the driveway I can't get between the leaned bank and the telephone poles with a 72" deck but I can with a 44".
Got out there to find the Hustler on a flat / so all I could do with that, was to block it up and toss the flat in my truck. It's almost 30 miles away from me so I figured I'd get something done. The last few times I've been out there I've only mowed what I could with the Hustler since I can get done in a couple of hours what takes me all day even if my wife and I each jump on one of the cubs or my ariens. Good time to get done some of the areas I haven't in a few mowings.
Burned thru 2 tanks of gas in the cub (2-1/2 gallons per) in 2-1/2 hours

Had to do some other stuff this morning and early afternoon but then got a few hours seat time on the MF12G. Grass was getting pretty tall with all the rain.

Fixin' to blow the tractor off with compressed air. It ran perfectly and did a nice job.

The lilac bush had to draw blood on my left elbow, but no other issues.

Time to pick up those rocks on the soaker hose. I think it will lay flat now.

That's a nice tractor, Lowell!

All I used today was the mobility scooter. Used it to go around the yard trimming. Pulled the yard trailer so I could throw the rocks in it while doing that. Got done trimming, dumped the rocks and unhooked the trailer. Then used it to spray weeds in the gravel after that.
