Workin' on the Old Tractors

Spoked wheels seem like they would be a real challenge. Getting to be a lost art these days.
Getting ready to mount the new to me sickle mower on my Farmall 230. The fast hitch is different from our Farmall Super C and the mower has a different lift set up on it so I need to figure out where everything goes. I haven't been able to find a manual that shows the hookup procedure but have seen some videos that talk about moving the lift links on the hitch to a fixed position. We'll see what I can figure out.

The hitch is made for it but several parts and pins need to be set different when a mower is hooked up. I'll take pics or make a video when I get it figured out.
The Mustang was Dads car. He said he bought it to relive his misspent youth and he had fun driving it. I told mom that dad just wanted to drive around with the top down to show off his "Trophy Wife". She got a good laugh out of that. Not sure what we are going to do with it at this time.

Got the hitch lift links moved to the stationary positions. The lift chain that came on the mower will work but the alignment isn't quite right. Need to find info on the correct setup. I moved it out in the driveway and did a test run. Doesn't sound to bad for a machine thats been sitting for quite a while.

You got that sickle mower working in no time, CJet! drive shaft must have already been usable, or you had one the correct length on hand. I know they can telescope a ways. Shouldn't be a problem getting that lift chain figured out.

Dad got this 2-point scraper blade with the Farmall Super C that he bought around 40 yrs ago. One of the hitch prongs was bent making it almost impossible to hook up to the tractor. Decided to throw it on the Gator and bring it down to the shop to see if I could straighten it. I still have to test fit but I think I got it and it took about 15-20 minutes to heat and hit it with a sledge hammer a couple of times. I'll bring the Super C down tomorrow and give it a test before I put it back together.

Thats a thick piece of metal you were pounding on.You must of had it red hot..and a very big sledge hammer..!
That blade looks like it doses it all..pivot and angle.. Not sure how easy it is to adjust ?
Heated until I was seeing just a very dull red in spots. The sledge is an 8lb'er. It moved easier than I thought it would. I tried once without heat and it was like a big spring. The adjustment are with a lever on top and the back that loosen off enough to disengage the teeth. Pretty easy to adjust and the 2-point hitch on the Super C has tilt from the seat.

That blade looks like it does a great job! Glad your neck is good enough to be able to back up scraping, unless you are back dragging. I expected to see the blade facing toward the tractor.
I tried to resist rubber necking your junk hidden in the background in the brush, CJet, but I couldn't stand it! Looks like a red '66 Mustang and the white one appears to be a late '80's Fox body?

I did rotate the blade around so it cuts going forward. The blade can rotate 360° on both horizontal and vertical axis but vertical is limited by the blade hitting the ground.
Normally I keep all of that area cleared of blackberries but the last few years I haven't been getting to it. Those blackberries will grow in so fast they just swallow everything up. Hoping to get at it this year and do a bunch of spraying with Crossbow. There are 4 mustangs in there with 2 more in the shop and dads convertible in the driveway.
I have a 550FT long gravel drive. I have the blade facing in reverse to grade and a truck shock as a top link since I hate being shaken or jarred around so much. The blade in reverse will not dig so hard into the gravel and carefully places the gravel where needed. Once I figured this out, I sold the box blade.

And now dad left behind his 23 and 26 T-buckets and IIRC a 30 ford coupe. Then there is the Corvair convertible in the shop.
