Workin' on the Old Tractors

Mowed the orchard area to make a place to park tractors and equipment so its out of the way for haying. The baler and hay hauler are in the parking area by the barn. Most of the equipment sits in one of the hay field/pastures after hay season and all winter. I'm a little late moving it but its done now.

Brought the Haybine to the shop. I have lots of room to work on it now that things are cleaned up some. Just don't look where I piled all of the stuff I removed. ;)

Dad had a new piece of thicker sheet metal bent to patch the rusted out area behind the cutter bar 2-3 years ago. Found it out in the container and by the way it looks I should weld that in while its at the shop.

Had to use the Hot Wrench to loosen all of the bolts holding the guards on. Nor to mark out where to cut for the new piece. Not sure if I will try marking and drilling the holes first or after I weld the piece in. I guess I need to check if the holes were oversized or not.

If you don't drill them before hand won't you be doing all your drilling up from the bottom ?

I just looked at the old holes and they are square. Probably doesn't matter if the new holes are square because the carriage bolts lock into the guards. I could always drill and file them. I could use the loader or engine hoist to lift the tongue up to make it easier to drill.
