Working the Gravely

We put the garden to bed for the winter today by mixing in a blanket of leaves with the 18H. Using the Ariens tiller.

Pic is from last year since I didn't think of grabbing another one today.

We let that break down over winter and in the spring we have a compost already mixed in. I have a PK tool bar that I set up with 3 cultivater shanks running 4" shovels. Turn junior loose with that and it gets well worked from the bottom which helps a lot in drying out the normally wet area.0415171517.jpg

That's a nice piece of equipment.
I like how it's more than one tool to you, also.

I thought Gravely had the engine in the rear?

I think it was the mid 80's when Ariens bought Gravely. My 18H is a 1986. Now the Gravely line is the deluxe and the Ariens line is homeowners.

That's a cool pic.
Hey, what's up with the tongue? I see you added a chunk.
Assuming it's so you could mount the saw shelf.
Mess with the turn radius? How's backing up?

You got it, a piece of unistrut to lengthen the hitch. To be able to pull it with the carry all box on the 3point. It worked out great for working away from home. We had been taking down tree that fall across a garage. Ropes n chains for rigging the pieces off the roof. Junior got a bit of seat time pulling.

So they say 1-2" of snow tomorrow..... As usual, the first inch will be on the ground while taking off the summer attire. Such as the tiller and summer tires, a 8.50 and a 9.50 cause that's what held air last spring. Winter shoes will be a set of 10.50s with two link chains. 120 pounds of concrete to aid in gripping the white slop n ice and a retrofitted Gilson snow plow. Which is way to light of a build for this tractor, starting to go from a straight blade to a V plow..... And here I sit drinking coffee while I think of the chunk of twisted steel I call a plow.
