And more junk.

Looks like it's spring at your place. It's just starting to turn green around here.
Grass is green for sure, trees aren't showing much green yet in our yard, Chris. We have gotten over 1-1/2" of rain since last night! Those downspouts in the first pic are digging holes where they dump! Might be too wet to mow tomorrow even if it quits! We need it so not complaining.

It'll be at least a couple of weeks before I can mow, we still haven't had a rain to bring the grass on. I was cleaning up the asparagus bed yesterday and....yipee :rolleyes:, the ticks are out !!
Hope you get some rain soon, Lorna! Damm ticks! Hate those little bloodsuckers but haven't seen any around here for a very long time. There seems to be more of them up in the Black Hills though. Now and then they would get bad out in the fields at my former job. Lots of wildlife in those fields to feed them.

We have found a few crawling around on us but not bad yet. Dogs both go treated. Need to ger the yard and around the house sprayed but with it raining every other day it gets washed off before it does much good. Ticks are just another inconvenience in this part of the country. Better than poisons snakes.

We do have rattlesnakes in the area unfortunately, Rog. They are not going to strike unless threatened at least. We had to kill the ones we found at my former job.

Cool and light rain today so spent most of the day on the computer working on a banner for our daughter. Got the Mobility scooter ready to use also.

Thought I might be able to do some trimming and weed spraying today, but with a stout wind and intermittent rain, nope.
Mobility scooter is sitting here waiting, armed with the trimmer, extra spools and battery.

Did do one small job on the MF12G that I noticed while mowing. I think this stuff is called beading. Holds the upholstery on. It was falling off on the right side of the seat.
IMG_2524.jpg

Took the seat off and worked the upholstery back into place where it wraps over the lip of the seat pan.
IMG_2525.jpg

Tugged on it with duckbill vise grips. Pinched that beading some with miracle pliers and banged the beading back down with a rubber mallet.
IMG_2526.jpg

There was quite a gap between the ends. Never paid much attention through the years, but I sure thought it had very little gap. Of course, it was 14 years ago when I put this upholstery on it since the original cover was cracked up. This upholstery is from an old office chair I threw out. It can't really shrink, as there is metal in the beading too. Had another piece and cut it to fill that gap.

Went around it pinching it tighter with the pliers in areas where it looked loose, then put it back on the tractor.

Hopefully it is good for another 14 years now.

DAC, I could have used you and your trimmer today. ;) I was weed eating the fence lines around the perimeter fence to keep the grass, blackberries, and brush for grounding out the electric fence. I have about 3700 ft to do and got about 1/3 done today. Some doesn't need much but a few areas the fence is buried. Thankfully I don't need to do the back fields at this time because its all hay field at this time.

Dang that's a lot of footage, CJet! You should have let me know sooner. I would have run right over to help---LOL!

Those beads like to catch water and hold it, then start rusting and breaking up. Real bad on units that sit out all the time.
I bet they do, Rog! As you may be able to see, not a speck of rust on this seat pan. It has never sat outside since I have had it. Maybe never.

Got a bunch of trimming done today. Couple spots in the back yard to do yet, but the wind went down by a miracle, so I dropped what I was doing to spray weeds and grass along the gravel. Mobility scooter ran fine the whole afternoon.

Spent the day getting mowers ready and charging batteries for Carolyns line trimmer. Haven't tried to start my trimmer yet. 4 cycle so should be no problem.
I need to get the chainsaw fired up too. Only used it a couple times last last year but really need to get some major cutting done on some trees this year. Be nice to get it done before they leaf out a lot but that may only be a wish. Got a 2 stroke one and an electric pole saw that uses the same batteries as the string trimmer.

Carolyn has an electric chain sw. HF 10" for cutting down her rose bushes and small lib trimming. Chain turns to slow to be real effective. She can't handle the gas line trimmer anymore so last year got her a Ryobi battery with extra charger and 2 bigger batteries and 3 more line spools. That smooth line that comes with them is just for looks. Don't hardly cut grass. Picked up a small bulk spool of square twisted line that cuts a whole lot better. I use the .095" square line on my gas unit and .135" on the wheeled line trimmer.

Yup, you are right about the electric chain saw, Rog. Seems to have enough torque but not enough RPMs. Seems to do the job, just got to hang on until it quits bouncing. At least it's light enough for me to use at 6-8 feet out. Leaks bar oil when not in use.

I haven't used round line since the 1990's I think!
