And more junk.

I haven't checked the schedule for the races yet but wonder how many they are going to start streaming like the NFL did. My cable bill is stupid high as it is and not going to get into that Hi Tech crap of streaming and all that added price. Kids use some kind of stick service for football, etc. but they don't watch any NASCAR, no cable either. To complicated for me but the 6 yo grandson can run it.

I'm having to learn streaming, like it or not, Rog. Unfortunately, you will probably miss 5 Cup races that will stream on Amazon Prime. Those are the only ones I know I will be able to see at this point since we already have it. Here is the 2025 schedule with the broadcasters listed.

Looking at Fubo right now. My wife is already regretting not continuing with our former cable provider as she misses some shows and local news. I won't be missing it at all until The Clash and Speedweeks in February!

I don't like it any more than you do, but when there are no choices, one needs to adapt.

Looks like the slot car track I want to build will be a door slab track! Got several around here so will tinker with it when I can. Started working up ideas for some race car lettering for a customer this afternoon after I did laundry, figured out how to take the water saver out of the new shower head and ran the dishwasher. I had to cancel a doc appt I forgot about for today. I didn't see the email reminder until there was no way I could make it in time. They didn't call back to reschedule yet.

I need to look up in the overhead in the shop because I think we still have our old track like that. I believe ours was a figure 8. These are the larger cars as I remember. We should have an AFX track also. Probably find the mice and rats made chew toy out of them.

I had this built as a figure 8 a few months ago, CJet. I didn't want a bridge. Needed some more straights to make a decent oval track. The Eldon cars are 1/32 scale. Non magnet downforce HO cars seem to run well on this track after I played for awhile. They slide like dirt cars so if I ever get this thing done it will be painted up to look like a dirt track. I have lots of dirt track bodied slot cars, and would like to build some more. Pretty big ideas to play with cars designed for 8 year olds. Humidity is hard on this stuff, so the tracks and cars you have may be in rough shape. Mice may have not liked chewing on the stuff at least.

Be real careful how you use a slab door. I just got a price on a slab replacement front door, insulated with one glass, special size. $534 + tax.

I have thought about building up a racetrack on a sheet of plywood that would lay on the pool table. Have no idea where to start though as there are so many options. Probably won't be this winter by the time the bathroom is finished and pay for my new rifle I was just notified was in.

Yeah there are a lot of options building a scale racetrack for sure Rog. HO scale is probably the best bet for a pool table track.

My old train layout I used several hollow core slab doors I had repurposed. They work great as far as staying flat and supporting the weight of my layout.
Exactly what I am using, Jim. I dug out the other by-pass door slab. The first one is the table top to the shop table the track is on. I got the legs out of the scrap at work. Legs fold up like a normal banquet table. Got a bunch of other hollow core door slabs but they are all in use as shelves or not in a place where I can get them out easy.

Scooted the track onto the slab and have it on the table too. Time to start cleaning it up and will probably glue and solder on the underside to make it one solid unit. Will test it out first of course!

The internet was out most of the day and just now came back on at 7pm! Called those morons twice and they said it was "maintenance".

You'd think 2 am would be a better time to do that sort of thing.
Just an excuse. They probably didn't lnow it was down till they were callled on it.
Yeah I think maintenance would have been scheduled at low demand times, Chris. The woman I talked to the second time did say they weren't aware of an outage, Rog. They are probably mad we dropped the TV package and showed us no matter what we stream, it is still their internet that supplies it. Found a deal with Fubo today that will save about 40 bucks a month that will carry most the stations NASCAR is on and it even includes Colorado Rockies baseball that Loree wants. I know, the Rockies are the worst team in baseball, but we went to so many live games when Mom was still alive we just kept following them and went to many more after she passed.

It was too cold out in the lift bay to work on the slot car track so I worked on that tv research, racecar lettering plans and ordered some stuff to finish that closet that replaced our old shower.

Pretty sure peacock has all the nascar race streams. It’s only 7.99 a month.

I don’t miss cable at all. Once you get into how to use the streaming stuff you won’t miss it. I set my parents up with everything. My dad HATES technology but he absolutely loves Netflix!
Nope, Aaron. There is Fox, FS1, NBC, Amazon Prime, USA, TNT/Max all carrying NASCAR racing at various times throughout the season. Peacock carries some reruns and most of Dirty Mo's media shows which are Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s company shows. Now far as streaming goes, It is a giant pain in the @$$ for me---LOL! We had no choice to go streaming though since the overpriced provider went all streaming too. No competition out here besides dish and they cost more and they wanted to charge me 2 subscriptions since my shop is not attached to the house. Sure would be simple to go back to just 4 networks and all programming be on them---LOL! That was back in the day when I was the remote though! And just like all cable and streaming packages there are 15 stations we will use and 200 we will never look at!

Ok rant off---LOL!

I'll see your rant Doug and raise you a @!*^%(&!! complaint about the bill going from $89.00/month to $150.00/month over the last twenty years and we haven't changed the original package one bit. Like you, we only watch maybe 10 channels out of the package we had to opt for to get ones we wanted.

Pretty crazy how folks are supposed to be able to afford that kind of price increases, Lorna. We get stuck paying for a lot of crap we will never use.

Doug did they drop your tv package the same amount that you were paying from your monthly bill. Our tv package, internet, and house phone is bundled at $188.72 a month. Even though the bill is itemized each month showing our tv package is $126.41 if we drop just that they reduce that amount and also raise the internet and house phone. It’s like they penalize us from breaking their bundle price. I’ve been researching what streaming option I have and it looks like YouTube TV would be our best choice.

Recently we’ve been live streaming for free Pluto TV that has all the old shows that we like. Amazon Prime along with YouTube is basically my movie channels.

Going to check in to some streaming stuff though I know nothing about it and hate the hi tech crap to start with so going in with a bad attitude won't be a fun experience.
I guess streaming is our TV future whether we like it or not, Rog. Too much money to be made by all those networks to stop it now! Good luck trying to learn it!

I blew our bundle deal 10-15 years ago when I dropped the land line, Jim. It was up to 125 or so and we were getting along with cell phones ok. It did drop the price for TV and internet to around 98 bucks which I felt was ridiculous then! It had gotten back up to 198 when we decided that was enough. That 100% increase was probably our punishment for dropping the bundle back then. If we go with Fubo it will still save a little over 40 bucks a month. Sounds like you getting all 3 for $188.72 is a bargain compared to rates out here.

Had an afternoon doc appointment so I went to Harbor Freight while I was in town. I managed to get out of there for 50 bucks! Was ready to spend some more, but the battery maintainers and wire wheels for 4-1/2" grinders that were on sale were all out of stock of course. Seems like every time I go there for some coupon sales anymore the stuff I try to get is already sold out. I was going to get another purple spray gun with a regulator this time, but they were out of stock too. Went ahead and got one without and used a 15% off coupon. It gets a little annoying that the advertised stuff is always out of stock, but I think it is a trick to get people in the stores. Wednesday, I got a "store manager" misses me email with a 25% discount coupon I figured to use. Guess what, It was only good Wednesday and Thursday---LOL!

Guess I got on a rant about HF coupons and lack of inventory! No wonder I keep ordering more crap online than actually going to stores! Comes right to my door that way.

Here's the stuff I brought home.

I see you are going to try the disposable paint cups. I watched a video last night and this guy says he just pinches the side of the cup and pulls to separate the lid and cup for refilling paint. He shows how he does it at around the 9:00 minute mark.

That's a good video, CJet. Thanks for posting it! I don't know when I will use this stuff, but it will be good to have it on hand if I get my act together on a truck in my shop!

I try to stay with my list at HF too but it’s hard. I got frustrated like you Doug the last few times going there to find out they were out of stock. I get them 25% off on one item too because the manager misses me lol, bad thing is they’re only good for a couple of days.
