And more junk.

What did you say? I can't hear you over the wind!
I had to drive 40 miles to Brookings this morning. Strong winds and blowing snow. It was about 27F and the snow was sticking to the road in some places. Not much accumulation but when you drove into one of those squalls it got interesting.
Weather channel had videos from Watertown yesterday, Chris. Looked like it was nasty outside. Glad you made your trip to Bookings safely!

We were rewarded with a beautiful day today after the 48 hour windstorm! I had to run a bunch of errands in town right in the middle of it, dang it!

Still got some junk hauled to a shed and some steel put in the racks out back though. Listed some other junk for sale on Marketplace too.

Got to pay a visit to the scanner truck this morning at 9:30. 45 min drive to get there. Have a helper coming to start in of the wood shop repair. Couple door size openings to fill, insulation to put in and then cover with a billboard trap till I can get the steel off the up side down roof. Neighbor is done harvesting so will have some time now to roll it back over for me. Be a good job for my helper as he can bend over, me not so much yet. Besides, I am going deer hunting. To hell with work!

Your staying busy even with your restrictions, Rog! Go fill your tags!

The cold is setting in. I used the handheld leaf mulcher to shred up a big, neat pile that the wind had formed on the sidewalk on the east end of the house. Then I hauled one more load of junk to the shed with the mobility scooter and garden trailer. Could see my breath out there. The trailer then got shoved under the camper and the mobility scooter parked beside the bagged GT5000. Pulled the battery and brought it into the shop. Cleaned it up, topped off the water and put it on the maintainer. That was the last one. Took a body bag out and put the mobility scooter under wraps for the winter. Was a tear I didn't see in the bag or I would have patched it inside and out with gorilla tape. Closed up the tear and doubled it over a few times and used a stapler to hold it shut.

Did some more rearranging in the shop and listed some camper jacks for sale on marketplace. Sold a banding tool and crimper this morning.

Probably be doing arranging in the house to put up the tree tomorrow. Daughter wants to help decorate while she is home for Thanksgiving.

Got out in the deer stand this afternoon. Sure nice to have the enclosed area to stand and move around a bit it out of the elements. Wind makes a howling noise blowing around it I could do without but will take that over being out in the open. Only saw 4 deer and they were over 1/4 mile away. Our house hog does deer patrol from "his" recliner as he can see 1/2 mile down the dirt road. Lot of deer cross it and loves to see them and bark at them. Carolyn said he was in the chair his usual 4 pm on and only barked at one deer. They were just no moving last evening. Chiefs play at noon CT today so game won't be over till late.

Wind tore a storm door off the North basement entrance the other day. Door was not in good shape anyway. Particle board with tin foil covering. Let's water in around the latch hole and never dries out, just starts swelling and never quits till it is back to sawdust. Cannot fins any place that has the plain aluminum storm door any more.

Thanks, Jim. I have transformers but battery power gives a lot more stable current (until the voltage drops). Transformers have a "surge" to a running car if the other car deslots. Batteries don't do that.
The way we wire train tracks is to put power drops every few feet or between sections of track below the table. Running a main wire from the power source under the table connecting these keeps an even voltage. This would be aggravating on a track that’s not permanent though. Back in the mid 60’s one of my friends dad had his four lane HO scale track set up in their basement. It was huge, we could run our own cars on it but only when his dad was at home. I remember I was just as fascinated by the wiring under the table as I was the track.
What in the heck do people do with bungee cords when not in use?

I slightly stretch mine from the frame of a shelf unit hooking both hooks. This keeps them accessible without tangling or falling off.

If I could get 2-300 with the tiller and front blade I would be all over that!

DAC
Wow Doug you could get $300. around here for just the tiller. I like the hood design on that JD. Have you tried Temp Search for selling things outside your area. Most JD guys don’t mind driving for a good deal on original parts or the whole package.

Wow Doug you have been busy I’m tired getting caught up with you. I’m glad all your home upgrades are done and now you can relax knowing that especially going into the winter. That car lift you got is like having a second floor storage area with no steps.

That’s a good idea Roger specially since Carol has a lot of them. I noticed here in our woods we have a lot of lichen I’m excited about gathering.
When I made mine I would glue three or four steams together for the trunk. Turn it upside down and spray it with flat black paint. Turn right side up and spray with cheap hair spray and sprinkle the fine ground cover over it to match the type of tree you want. This is the time of year to cut them also. Dormat and will keep about forever.

That's the downside of living out here in Bum-----Egypt, Jim. I still prefer it here though rather than near real big cities. RC is getting too dang big for me anymore. I have never heard of Temp Search but will take a look.

How does your wife and kids feel about living in the shop lol
Aaron's family would probably look at it as an adventure, but a permanent arrangement may not be so fun for them---LOL!

My wife credits 46 years of marriage to me almost living in my shop---LOL! I don't get on her nerves that way!

I am 99% certain anything on the lift won't be needed until spring, but there always could be that 1% that hits me upside the head! I can get up there easily on a 8' stepladder but there should be no need.

There is one more project going to happen the week after Thanksgiving. There is a big corner bathtub in our master bathroom we have never used. It is getting torn out and replaced with a 54'x54" onyx corner shower. Not a standard size so the pan and glass is custom. They are going to tear out the old shower and turn it into a closet. I will do the shelves in it.

The bigger HO tracks all have multiple power taps too. I think my old 6 lane had 5 taps and was a total of about 35' of track length. That little one I want to build should be fine with one power source. And like I said a regular transformer might be just fine on something like that with just me playing on it. Just hard headed enough to think it has to be battery. Also think 12V will be enough for my little playground too. All that is on hold now.

The Christmas tree is going up in the family room rather than the living room this year. The tree is so big it would be in the way of the bathroom remodel crew, hauling big stuff in and out. Our daughter is going to be here for several days next week over Thanksgiving and she wants to help decorate the tree, so we needed to get it put up before she gets here. Had to do a bunch of rearranging and cleaning but the tree is standing. Our son came over and gave us a hand on it. The tree has a bunch of those white "seed" lights and some areas aren't lighting up anymore so I have to see if I can get some locally. Will look tomorrow. I always put colored flashing and twinkling lights on it too. I should have the lights done before she gets here.

The season is upon us!

I have 4 or 5 sets of the old bubble lights I like to use bur Caroly has a new lighted tree she got last year after Christmas sale. Will use that tree if we even put one up. Always to go the kids for Thanksgiving and Christmas as they have more room than us. They are about half our age and get a lot more done is less time than us old folks. Besides, I kind of like it that way.

My wife would really like me to do my hobbies in the dining room bless her heart. When I moved my hobby shop out of the basement she was genuinely sad. I thought I was doing her a favor by moving the mess out of the house but not so. Too bad the things I like to do are big and make such a mess. Maybe I’ll try small RC planes.

I would be fine if that could happen for us, but daughter lives 330 miles away and we can't stay with them anyway. Small house. Son just has an apartment.

Take advantage of them putting you up and doing the work for the holidays, Rog!

Aww, that's nice Chris. She sounds like a sweetheart for sure. Before my shop went up in 1991 I was painting signs in our hallway in the old trailer house, and before our first kid was born a bedroom was my slot car room. Loree was really happy for me to get the smelly paints and thinners out of the house and of course the slot car room had to be converted back into a bedroom when kids came along.

You still flying RC planes? Would dig seeing pics!

Had some running to do after a doc appointment then some phone calls to make when I got back. A guy came and bought 140' of discharge hose that I used to pump water out of the well pit during wet years. He was an air force career vet that was near retirement. Soon as he came into my shop he removed his hat even though mine stayed on my head! Very nice guy. He raises tropical fish and has several huge aquariums that need to have water changed periodically. He will use the hose to put the old water on his trees and outdoor plant he said.

Ordered parts for Loree's vacuum cleaner that had bad belts and filter, but completely forgot to stop and get a rear wiper blade for her Equinox! Better go back in tomorrow for that!

I’m trying Doug.
There’s probably going to be a waiting period for pictures. Seems I’ve lost my touch for flying and everything needs repairs. I even managed to fly one plane into June Bug. Thankfully no one else was at the flying field to see it happen or I would have never lived that down. No damage to JB thankfully.

I was just looking at some electric ready to fly out of the box with some assembly. Most are around the $200. plus range. The guy had what looked like a piper Cub with some really fat front tires. I’m thinking these could land on grassy fields which I have plenty of. I’ve built several over the years with the balsa wood then skinning them. They were beautiful planes but they make you cry when you crash. I thought about a drone but I think that would get boring after awhile unless your into photography.

I never tried RC planes, but used to watch a group that would fly out by I-90 near the Air Base. They had a pretty big club. There was and still is a downtown hobby store that carried lots of RC planes and parts. When I would go in there for slot car parts or model car supplies, I was always amazed by a scale radial engine they had in a display case. It must have been at least 8" across. I forget how many cylinders it had. I think at least 6. They said there are large scale RC plane builders that use engines like that! I'm pretty sure my investment would end up in piles of debris if I tried them.

Someday I will fly my drone. I have one I should sell as it is too fast for my slow reactions. Daughter gave me one I can actually control. Photography with it is all that really interests me. Several years ago there used to be indoor drone racing on TV weekend mornings. I forget what channel. Way over my capabilities! The building was dark and there was a fluorescent blacklight course they would maneuver around at insane speeds. All pilots sat side by side looking at the cell phone screens to fly. How they could complete a race was beyond me!

Still had to run around in town again today. Got home and had a bite for lunch and started the '72 GMC and the '83 C10. Let them warm up a bit as it's cold out! Put them in the back yard so the kids have parking for Thanksgiving. Went to start the '55 GMC and it cranked a few times and the battery gave out. Went and got the '72 to give it a jump. It fired off right away then. I noticed the '55 battery is 4 years old now. Then for the heck of it I checked the battery in the '72. It will be 10 years old in January! The old guy I bought it from was a hot rodder that worked at a local parts house. He said this will be a great battery for your old GMC. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple years ago now. He used to give away small girlie calendars only to his buddies. I was one of the recipients. They just said "Wild Bill" on them rather than a company name. The battery he sold me was 6 year warranty AC Delco. Don't think you can buy a battery like that anymore. Never had to put a charger on it at all even though that truck isn't a daily driver. No maintainers on the outside trucks either. Sure hope I haven't jinxed myself on that battery! I will have to look at the '83 battery. I have no idea how old it is since it is our son's truck! Always starts like it's a fresh charge.

A guy from the Threashing Bee group is supposed to give me a call about the Wisconsin TF. Hopefully he will come get it rather than it being scrapped.
