And more junk.

I'm changing the subject to junk in my shop, but the ShopSmith stuff is very interesting!

The other day while hauling a fairly heavy box with my old 2 wheel dolly, I heard a pop and air. One of the tubes blew the valve stem clean out of the wheel. Ordered tubes from Amazon and they got here today. Yeah changing those small tubes are a pain but I figured it won't be too bad. WRONG---LOL! 12x5-6. Breaking the bead was no problem and even getting one bead off the wheel wasn't too bad.
IMG_1852.jpg

The Chinese tire mounter neglected to put any or enough tire talc in. The tube seemed to be glued to the inside of the tire! Had to pull it out in pieces.

IMG_1851.jpg

Rubbed a bunch of baby powder into the tire and all over the new tube. I smelled pretty nice after working up a sweat yanking pieces of that tube out! It was a bit harder to get the bead rolled back on but somehow it seems the tube didn't get pinched! I was just going to replace both but decided the heck with that, the other one still holds air. Valve stem was crooked though and getting harder to put air in it. Pulled the core on that one, broke the beads, wiggled the tire on the rim and got the stem to a good position again. Aired it back up and it still seems to be holding too.

Got fancy aluminum valve caps, a few extra cores and threader for the outside threads with the pair of tubes. It has an internal threader too. I got several of the t shaped ones anyway but that was so nice of them to throw in the extra goodies for 14 bucks shipped---LOL!

Now I can haul Loree's Christmas presents into the house. Just 40 lbs per box but I'm not carrying them by hand.

I've never seen a valve stem die like that before. I wonder how you'd use it if the stem is below the rim of the wheel I'm thinking on a tubeless valve stem it would be pretty hard. I've had one of those inside taps but have never used it.

Was thinking the same thing. Be challenging.
Not sure if Doug meant the tap kit came "with" the tubes or he ordered them separately.?

For what I get my wife for Christmas I could have flat tires on my hand truck and pull just the same..
But better your wife goes by weight Doug...getting her money's worth..

Carolyn and I don't do much for Christmas. We get what we want or need through the year. 35 years ago, when we got together, she had new gazebo style cedar Amish made bird feed she won at Earl May. I have rebuilt that thing at least 4 times over the years and the last time was the last time. I finally found a large feeder for just over $200, northern cedar, plastic windows on each side and hold over 5 lb. of feed. FedEx delivered it and had to set it down with the big picture on the side of the box facing out where the whole world could see, including Carolyn. So much for that surprise. When the old feeder is empty, and it is above -10° wind chill with swap the two feeders out. I know I will get the new Heston rodeo belt buckle. Got them all from 1975 through 2024. Will have fun watching the grand kids open their gifts.

Good job on the tire repair Doug. I’ve been wanting to make a bunch of tire valves by gluing the plastic cap inside spent shell casings. They look pretty cool.

You’re not going to tell us what you got Loree for Christmas. Carol does so well buying for herself Christmas is about the only time I buy or build her something.

Here is the stem that blew out, Chris. Keep in mind that cart is probably 20 years old too. I have hauled automotive engines on it before.

Loree can get pretty pouty if there is nothing under the tree for her. The little girl instinct is still very strong in that 65 year old woman!

That's a big bird feeder Rog! We get what we want through the year too but I explained how Loree is above! No grand kids here.

I like that idea for valve caps, Jim! What I got her---well it is two of the same thing. 2 Pub tables and 4 bar stools for her pool room. She wants to have some of her old pool playing friends over to do some shooting. I also have one of those little cube refrigerators that I have been meaning to repaint and add some "Loree's Pool Room" graphics of some kind. Just got to get rountuit.

Got her presents into the house before she got home from work.

I can't seem to get a pic of the tree when all the lights are on at the same time. Got flashing and twinkling strings on it.

The shower install got done today too. Finally done with that home improvement loan BS, besides paying for it---LOL! I have to put down 3'x4' of vinyl flooring in the closet that used to be a shower and figure out shelving. The door they installed needs to be stained too.

Our shower is still sitting out in th3 garage in the boxes it came in. Contractor has been trying to finish up a couple outside jobs first. Our bathroom is only 5' wide so that is how wide the shower will be. No built in seat, 3 grab bars, has to have a 6' hose on the shower head. Just some of the govt requirements for a VA grant. For all the paperw2ork one would think I was building a half million dollar house. Doug went through the same thing with is home improvement loan. If you want it screwed up, get the govt involved.

That vanity light in there might give you an electrifying feeling while showering lol

I like that shower! Once my kids are grown I’ll get rid of the bath tub and go for a walk in shower.

We talked about it when we redid the bathroom but then our kids were all little and they only took baths. Then they all took showers. Now 2 of them are back to taking baths…….
Showers are nice and we all would rather have them but every home should have one bath tub if you have the room. Our two girls were the same first tubs then showers then back to tubs. Our son always liked showers once he started walking.

Nice looking shower stall. In the upcoming years you're going to really appreciate the ease of getting in and out. The fold down seat and grab bars are really a nice idea.
Thanks, Chris. Hindsight now but we should have had a bar on the left side of the seat too. The seat is a little high for putting my feet on to wash them but I will get it figured out---tonight!

Yeah, Rog, this loan had fed backing too so no wonder it was a slow nightmare to process. Hope you get your installed soon! 5' is slightly wider than this one. It is 54"x54". The shower we took out was only 4'x3' outside dimensions. The pan of this shower sits right on the footprint of the corner tub we had removed.

Our daughter was the only one that used the tub we removed a couple times. She's long moved away. The tub was just wasting space. We gained a 3'x4' closet and got a bigger shower so it worked out well, Aaron.

Dang that reflection does look like the lights are in the shower---LOL! Better angle.

Well, this home don't have a tub any more, Jim. I know we can't even consider using one. Need a crane to get us back out! I don't like soaking in the dirt I'm trying to get rid of either---LOL!

Had to do some running in town today, then I cleaned the bathroom up and moved our junk back in so we can use it again.

What ever happened to Obscure or frosted glass..
Call me weird but I'm not into being watched taking a shower..
Best to just see a silhouette like in the old Psycho movie.
