And more junk.

This HIP loan better work like the bankers say it will! I've dug myself a pretty big hole if not---LOL!

Water line is dug in from the meter pit to the house. The old gent that owns the ditching company is 84 and was still using a shovel and a rake. His son runs the equipment and they had one laborer. Started at 7am, done by 1pm. Rain started about 20 minutes after they left. The plumber will be here Friday to do the house hookup, and the water co-op will be here to get it going while the plumber is here doing the under house connection and heat tape.

I lived in a little fantasy land for awhile, but today it was time to dismantle the slot car track and get the shop "winterized". Will take the '55 off the lift and put some tractors on it. Hoping that with the help of the bridge crane (thanks CJet) that I will be able to turn them sideways, possibly putting 4 on it instead of two. A couple will be bagged outside too. The MF8E has to stay on the floor for it's annual winter duties. Will try to put the MF12G, MF1450, MTD 660 and the JD110 all on the lift sideways. Should just see if I can get a couple hundred bucks out of the JD110 since it hasn't been used since last fall. I need some space in the shed it is sitting in. When the lift is back up will bring in the '55 and try to do some work on it this winter. Hopefully will get that plan going on Thursday. Got some running in town to do tomorrow.

Got some tractor seat covers from Temu yesterday. Didn't get to see if they will fit yet. Were only about 14 bucks each. 2 high back seats and one low back. I like the tool pouches on the back.

After I got home from running around in town a package was sitting in the rain on the front porch. Order from my Medicare provider that has a couple hundred dollars a year of free OTC things. Ordered some various reading glasses. Some are for Loree too, not all pictured.

I think it is stupid that a person has to wear readers to read what power the readers are! Cut some stickers to put on the bow.

Our cable TV provider sent a letter that all cable will be discontinued Dec. 12th! Upgrade to a full on streaming service or your done!
Spent about an hour with them on the computer chat session to find out what the heck is going on! Price will be about the same (still too damm much money) and will still get all channels we have now. 2 bucks more a month and they will put wifi in the shop and that will run both my TV's out here. There is some sort of hard wired switch box they would install out here included in the base price but I wouldn't mind having wifi.

Will decide what to do soon. Not a very productive day other than that.

Got a couple of the seat covers, just as good as others but half the price.

Our tv package plus internet is stupidly expensive right at $200! It wouldn't be so bad IF one could find shows worth watching! I usually watch Mash reruns almost every night, but that's about it for a good show.
Ours will be $198 with internet. Of course this new system they are going to requires their internet. I watch NASCAR and the weather channel, that's about it. Loree like dancing with the stars and some of those other dumb competition shows. There is ME tv that has old westerns a lot that we watch too. She also streams some networks and we have one racing streaming channel too. Probably over $250 a month before it's all said and done!

It is totally ridiculous what the networks charge the providers for little service. They load each option up with a bunch of junk channels so they can show that big number of channels available. $200 a month looks like their targeted price, and don't get the local channels we want either. Get the tv stations 100 miles NE of us but can't get the ones 70 miles West? Our weather comes from the West. not the NE. But I can sure tell you what the weather was yesterday with no problem.

The tall back seat covers seem to fit ok. Would probably fit better if I loosened the seat bolts and tucked the cover in tighter.

Didn't like how the short back one fit the MF1450. Loosening the bolts won't help because the bolts are in the way of tucking it in tighter.
IMG_1764.jpg

Tried it on the MTD 660 LT. Will work better on it. I can tuck the excess in the front under. The original seat upholstery is still all there but the stitching has failed.

They will all require some tweaking, but they are ok for the money.

Went around behind the shop with the air tank and filled the front tires on an old Craftsman LT Going to put the boom on the MF1450 and pull it around front. The plumber that will be doing the waterline under the house tomorrow wants the transaxle. Told him he could have it. I was gonna haul it to scrap.

I bought a couple seat covers very similar to those off amazon a couple years ago. Put one on Carolyns 1018 cub mower and the other on m 1862 mower. Both covers were a bit big but sure worked ok. Need to put a seat belt on her mower. She moves around so much it kills the engine every once in a while. Don't want to pull a wire on the seat switch as she is not that steady on her feet anymore and don't want her stepping off with a live deck.

That is a good idea leaving the seat switch operational for Carolyn, Rog. I left the seat switch operational on the Craftsman GT5000 too. Good thing I did since Loree decided to mow with no knowledge to operate it while I was in Denver for a few weeks. Don't think she had any close calls, but don't know for sure. When I use that tractor and shift my weight over for mowing the ditch or other inclines the engine will sputter for a second. Took me awhile to get it through my thick head as to what was going on---LOL!

We now are on the Rapid Valley water system so I can retire the well during the winter. The plumber installed a sillcock that is well only so If watering something is needed, we don't have to use the expensive water from the system. He didn't charge me for that sillcock. I have an old Craftsman LT that he needs the transaxle out of. I told him he could have it before we even agreed on a price for the under-house plumbing. When he gave me the invoice to give to the bank I saw he had No Charge wrote on the materials and hookup labor of that sillcock.

Will be hitting the shower tonight in system water rather than well water!

Good for you. Nice to have that job done before the ground freezes. You’ll know if the water is softer after your shower.
Thanks, Chris. I almost forgot to de-tune the water softener before the hookup, but got it turned down now for the water system. Went from 75 grain to 25 grain and recharge every 5 days instead of 3. Think I may be able to work the grain down to 15, as that's what the system says the hardness spec is for this water. Will use up the rust remover salt we have then just go to normal salt. Buck or two cheaper a bag. Flushed the water heater after the hookup was completed too.

WE lease a Culligan water softener. They do all the adjusting for the hardness, etc. Make the changes to take the alga taste out when it blooms every summer. They come in every 2 weeks and fill the salt tank and check the system. $35 a month lease fee, wice the seals started leading in the automatice valve system and they replaced the whole valve assembly with a rebuilt one.
