Its just amazing and some what unbelievable, this K341 I'm working on had a bottom drain oil pan, for my needs it has to be a side/end drain. I posted before I had a pan I had drilled and tapped previously but had been a bottom drain, on another engine I used a internal hex plug after running tap in as deep as needed to get the plug to sit flush with the bottom well I searched everywhere but didn't have one. So I ordered an assortment from Amazon but it got back ordered and won't be here till April 4 and this has been bugging me as the engine is close to a test run. Now for the amazing part I have this old parts K series Kohler sitting on the shop floor I've even tripped over the darn thing well today a light came on it has the oil pan I need compete with the drain pipe and cap, so I removed it and cleaned it up removed the pan from the 16 hp engine cleaned all the old gasket off and installed a new gasket bolted the pan on. Filled the crankcase with oil (after inspecting the balance gears they are like new so they stayed in) bolted the starter on and connected some jumper cable and tried cranking the engine with the SP out cranked over great so I got the compression tester installed and cranked it over got 70PSI this made me very happy so now its real close to a test run

Picked up in the shop some yesterday worked on removing a Tecumseh OH160 from the run stand and made an ID tag for the Kohler K341, the original one was drity and scuffed up some so I thought I would clean it up some and put some clear tape over it was real careful not to use lacquer thinner so I soaked a shop rag with universal enamel thinner gave it a couple of wipes was looking god then all of a sudden the numbers wiped off I was not to happy with myself. But I had recorded them on the computer so I knew them. Cut a 2"X2" piece of alum and used the etching pencilto make a tag also made the label with the dyomo label maker, and this morning its only 15*F so I;m sitting here on the computer where its warm

Making my 33*F seem quite comfy.

We’re coming off a high in the 60’s all week but now dropping down to 22 tonight. My shop was 20 this morning but had to make a few errands for some 7/16 nyloc nuts. Now it’s just past 2:00 don’t feel like going out there now.

Gary what are you doing with the OH160 Tecumseh. I have one on my Bolens H16 that locked up on me. Once I get caught up on some ongoing projects I’m going to tear it down to see what my damages are.

Hi Jim I have a couple of ST 16 Suburbans and this was a spare I traded it to my brother a couple of years ago he was going to build a saw mill but didn't going on it so the engine is still in my shop actually I think this engine came out of a Bolens and I think it said 15 hp not sure there is any real difference

Got the Tec off the run stand and the K341 mounted on the stand connected the gas hose, starter cable, 12 VDC wire, tomorrow will hook up a throttle cable and a ground cable, put some gas in the gas tank and cank it over to see if the fuel pump works and that it has spark if so then it a go for start hopefully it will run

Happy happy happy it runs, I connected battery cables, hooked up a throttle cable /throttle, put gas in the tank disconnected the gas hose from fuel pump to the carb cranked it over got gas squirting out reconnect the gas hose, put the inline spark tester on and cranked it indicated good spark removed it got the squeeze bottle of gas and gave a small squirt into the carb hit the starter button and it started so fast it almost startled me and sat there and purred like a kitten never missed a beat let it warm up opened the throttle a little it rived up perfectly check the alternator it putting out 14+ VDC, video to come
