They were designed in the early years of planned obsolescence.I think it was a cost saving thing, the OEM pins would last longer then the 1st & 2nd owners so it was an easy way to cut some costs, and then there would be Kenny to come along and do it right
Next time you'll make them out of wood so they are easier to drill.Spent about 7 hrs. today drilling pins. And there is 18 of them. All done with that, but rain is back in the forecast!
Hope this is the easier half for you Kenny..Owner stopped by and we figured out the valve & tank mountings. Hopefully I can get that going today.
I'm hoping!Hope this is the easier half for you Kenny..
I'm surprised the uprights aren't used as the tank. The bigger tank should help avoid overheating the hydraulic fluid, maybe that was why they did it that way.More progress to report. Got the tank and valves mounted.

I'm going to trim those brackets on the tank shorter yet. Now to make up a list of fittings/hoses for this.
Haven't a clue. But I bet this is an early model loader, not much out there on one's with the tank.I'm surprised the uprights aren't used as the tank. The bigger tank should help avoid overheating the hydraulic fluid, maybe that was why they did it that way.
Who do you get your hose's from Kenny ?Haven't a clue. But I bet this is an early model loader, not much out there on one's with the tank.
Got the hydraulic fittings/hoses ordered. May see them next week. Hope to be done with this by next Friday.
Surplus Center. Have had very good luck & service from those folks!Who do you get your hose's from Kenny ?
Yea years ago like 40+ they had all kinds of interesting things for sale like aircraft generators and plans for making a DC welder lots of military surplus etcYears ago the catalogs from Surplus Center were full of dreams. Now it takes all my effort to just open and look at it. No ambition left for dreaming.
Maybe comparing apples to oranges but remember when Northern Tool was Northern Hydraulic's. Not what they started out as that's for sure..Yea years ago like 40+ they had all kinds of interesting things for sale like aircraft generators and plans for making a DC welder lots of military surplus etc
Gary I actually built a portable welder with two of those generators. At first I used one of their 200 amp generators and then moved up to a 400 amp generator powered by a 1955 Chev. 235 six cylinder. The family that I sold it to in 1978 still has it.aircraft generators and plans for making a DC welder
We are still using the 25 gal. pull behind sprayer purchased from Northern Hydraulics. Still has the original pump on it.remember when Northern Tool was Northern Hydraulic's.
I still dream with my SC catalogue, but know it's mostly just that....dreaming. No time, and little ambition. Kinda sad really!Years ago the catalogs from Surplus Center were full of dreams. Now it takes all my effort to just open and look at it. No ambition left for dreaming.
