What are you currently working on??

I got ag tires put on the newer DA 916 and son helped with the wheel weights, actually he don most of the work. He also welded a insert tube on the trailer hitch so I can put my rear carrier to carry a deer if I get one get 2. Have to cut a piece of 3/4 rod to mount it to the rear of the tractor.

Did some work on the free bagger setup that I got for my 1440 last year. It was off a newer Cub Cadet, but similar enough to make it work on mine. The way I had it on before, the chute didn’t fit the deck right, and grass and leaves would catch on the edge and plug it up. I trimmed some plastic off that was in the way, and heated it so I could bend it to fit around the outside of the deck. I cut a few pieces of aluminum flashing and riveted them on to fill in the gaps. It’s not heavy enough, but it was easy to work with for testing. It’s working pretty good now, so I will eventually redo it with heavier metal and make it permanent. Or I could just buy the correct chute to fit my deck, and I may do that if I find one cheap. I also put a set of high lift blades on which helped a lot. I used it the past three weekends to clean up leaves and it is working much better now. It has 3 bags, and I probably dumped them about 100 times between the 3 weeks. The piles are getting big. I will be back at it again tomorrow. Most of the leaves are down now, so that may be the last time for this year.

The chute coming off the deck is the most critical area. I was watching this link on YouTube for myself for a later project.

Nothing mechanical on GT/lawn and garden stuff lately unless you count waking up my old shindawa backpack blower from the dead. I haven't even looked at it since last leaf season, I use my Stihl BG86 handheld for most things.
That backpack blower starts easy after the first startup of the year but that 1st one is a pain.
I got this thing at a garage sale a few years ago, it's like a1992 but it sat for I don't know how many years before I got it. I had to replace the carburetor, as Walbro don't seem to make that exact one anymore, I found one really close (and cheap) brand new on feebay back when I got this thing a few years ago. Genuine Walbro too not a clone. It's old enough to want a 32:1 mix. I then ran out 2 tanks of fuel thru it today.
It died from lack of fuel with about 5 minutes left, I finished with the Stihl.

Besides GT stuff I have the trans blown apart on the bench for the Durango. Only has 314k on it.
I will be putting it back together as soon as my parts come in for it. Think the torque converter died which started the process. One clutch pack was literally welded together but when we t went it went too "all of a sudden", usually if the clutches inside are the cause there are more "signs" before it just flat out dies ..
We're not stranded with it down, I have 2 pick-ups, so we're both still getting where we have to go. But the Dakota is getting quite crusty underneath, as well as it has been running it's sadly probably time to let it go.
And with the Durango down, if we have to go get the grandkids (2) for some reason we have to take both trucks with what car seats rules are these days..... I've been thinking of finally buying a small cracker box for mileage before the
Durango went down, but I got shot down (they aren't 4wd she says) minivans are " out". (I agree with her there) I actually wouldn't have minded finding an old school full size conversion can... I sometimes miss my old one. Got shot down there too. She wants another Durango like we have now, not any of the newer ones as she says they're ugly. So we've been looking at them for several weeks now (actually started looking before this one went down. We've had our current one over 10 years now. ) And it's still in better shape than most any Ive looked at body wise.
Ours is an 01 with the 360 (5.9)and I wanted another one with the same engine. But they're hard to find at least in decent shape around here.

2 Saturdays ago my son and I went and checked out one, it only has 130k miles but had the"wrong" engine in it, and looked like it had been running a round or 10 of "bumper cars".
I'm not a fan of fake book but the wife is on it so I've been looking all over CL and marketplace. Last weekend we took a ride 4 hours SE to far southern Indiana and came back empty handed, that one looked nice by pix (and boy did the seller send me plenty more) but not any of the important things. He didn't tell me the rockers were non existent on both back doors and the frame had holes in it right under the driver side upper control arm, the driver front body mount had completely rotted away from the body, with at least 2" of dead air space all the way around the frame mount "donut" . We stopped by Indy and checked out 1 more on the way back, and it was rotten. I tried contacting a couple that looked interesting between southern Indiana and Indy but neither got back to me while we were still in the respective area.

People not replying to questions about their own for sale ad has been the biggest problem.
I've replied to many within 50 miles and it's like I replied to "black holes". People if youve sold something please pull your ad!
There is a red square body Cherokee that doesn't look like has moved in a very long time not far from here that looks very clean I left a note in their mailbox asking about it with my number but in a week I haven't heard back.
So Ive been talking to sellers of 2 Durango's down near St Louis that looked promising. That's also about a 4 hour drive from here.
Yesterday we made the drive and came home with an exceptionally clean 03 with only 127k miles. .. still ended up with one with the motor I didn't want (4.7) but it's low miles and CLEAN. It ran good coming back, it's a lot more ballsy than what I remember them being. It's more plain Jane than ours but sometimes there's advantages there too. I was looking for "clean" and as close to rust free as I could find. Money was the same as ones closer with double, some 3x the miles or ones I could put my fist thru the body and not touch metal as it passes thru the holes.
I don't want to drive my other pickup for the winter as I still owe on it for 2 more years. I don't want to expose it to road salt. Which is why I still have the Dakota it's rotted anyway. And 4wd, which helps me make my 70 miles daily round trip in the winter.
Otherwise it's been our "spare" for the past couple of years. This "new" 03 Durango has (at current) 1000 miles less than my '12 pickup that I want to park for the winter. So we'll both be driving Durango's once I get the trans back together and put back into the 01.

And now that that search is over now we have to drive to Sheboygan WI and back tomorrow, that's about 3 to 3-1/2 hours one way for a funeral. My wife's brother. That's her 2nd one, she has 1 more brother and 1 sister and her mom left.

A few months back I brought home 1965 J.D.110 round fender. Just the basic tractor. Yesterday when visiting a friend I mentioned needing a mower deck. He walked me out back of the shop and said …take this one. A brass tag 39“ mower deck.
He had acquired a 110 round fender this summer and removed the deck from it. He wouldn’t take any money and I wasted no time in loading it. Somewhere down the road I will make it up to him
I got it installed today. Just need the belt from the mule drive to the deck. After I run it and decide it will work for me I will take it back off. It will be winter project to refurbish it this winter.
Anyone know the drive belt size for a 1965 J.D. 110. Serial number A 19146?

That may be a hit and miss on the belt size Rick. You might have to do the old fashion method of using a rope. You might try one of the other forums where JD’s and specs are more common. I’ve had a few friends give me stuff and refuse to take anything. Although being thankful it’s hard for me to take things for free. Like you mentioned you can do something nice for them later. That’s a nice tractor and now deck combo.

Larry and I have always taken care of each other on tractors and parts.
He has a couple old Oliver farm tractors. An 88 and a Super 55.
As a payback I picked up this wooden 88 row crop for him.

Finished up this project this afternoon. Took about 4 hours total with the very poor instructions that were about useless. Got it about an 1.5' off center. Went by the bottom back piece and where it had to fit. All in all, it came out good. Zippers are real heavy-duty nylon and work smooth with no binding. Probably won't be driven much in rain or falling snow so not worried about leaks. Will get some fiberglass insulation to lay in front of the dash under the hood to stop the cold wind from blowing straight in. Opening big enough for a dog to chase a cat through. Nice big back window. Will make a couple wood stakes to fit the pockets in the box and a piece of expended metal to protect the back window from firewood when I haul it. Hardest part was to find the old screw hole for the aluminum top that was on it. I put it back on again. Material is heavy canvas with a vinyl type material imbedded into it. Lot heavier than what was on it.

The deck looks a lot like the one on my flat fender, Rick, but from there I can't tell if the deck drive belt would be the same one. The engine pto on yours looks different. Think there may be some numbers on the belt on mine.

Working on Cub narrow frames and bringing a JD 111 back to life with a repower sounds like a great way to spend some time with friends. I've done a bit of tractor tinkering myself, and it can be pretty rewarding.
