What are you currently working on??

My 8n was not running good, I think the condenser was bad and causing the points to burn. I ordered a tune up kit for it and put it in yesterday. The only thing I didn’t change was the spark plugs since I just put a new set in about a month ago. I didn’t use the dust cover on the left either because 8n’s don’t use them. So far it’s running great, better than it ever has.

Ordered some cheap knock off "18" vise grips that were cheap enough I won't feel bad about cutting them apart to extend to reach where I need them to be so I can clamp a copper bar along the bottom back of my cab as a backer and heat sink so I can weld it up the right way... Hope I don't screw it up worse than what it was when I got it.... I got the concept but most of my "thin metal" welding is much smaller than what this is.... here lately at work it's been exhaust work that can't be seen when the vehicle hits the ground again. At least it's all accessible, not like trying to reach around the top of an exhaust pipe that's mounted where it goes that I can't see because of small clearance...
Got a half a mind to get out the torch and brass rod and go at it that way..... But brass doesn't take paint that well

Well it RUNS!!! Dad's old 115 Evinrude.
Hooked up the controls, a battery, a fuel line to the tank (had to drive 40 miles into Indiana to get some bon ethanol fuel. I'm tired of that/ another reason Illinois sucks) but it fired right up like it was run yesterday not like a motor that hasn't been cranked since 1997... Sounds fantastic.
I have 2 sets of controls, the "Evinrude" one has a side cover missing, start switch hanging out the side. Won't crank with the key. A jump pack and screwdriver to the rescue. The key will kill it though.
The set of "Johnson" controls looks better but the plug that plugs into the engine harness is missing.
It appears stuck in gear, but one of the buttons is missing off the control for "forward". I have a feeling that a set of good controls and it'll make someone a great motor. I ran it quite a while, could only take it up to about 2/3 throttle without getting a bath f I'm the prop. I'm glad I left part of the top on the mini bulk tank as a deflector. It does that job great, definitely better than without. and probably keeps 90% of the water within the tank. Good enough that I just listed it on CL to demonstrate it to someone, and waiting for the wife to get home (hopefully before dark/ so I can take pic off of her phone so I can put it on her MP. Can't believe my original post about this thing was buried 5 pages down already

This was me all day yesterday until I ran out of gas in the mig. Gotta duck out of work a bit early to make sure I make it to the welding store for a refill so I can finish this weekend in the 105* and up " feels like" temps

3 pm was 95° with a hot wind at 14 out of the South. Sucking up any moisture we picked up in the last 10 days. Had shower on the way home from Creston yesterday afternoon. On farm drive had wet pavement and 50 yds. further it was bone dry.

Antique pool table light from Bud Light with the beer bottle on top quit. One quit some time back. Thought it was the starters but it isn't. Ordered a pair of the 36" LED conversion tubes yesterday. Was to be here today. Haven't seen where they have been shipped yet.

got dads 115 evinrude sold this morning. Got the camper emptied out. I'm dripping. Its already 93* with 100 "feels like" According to our weather station on kitchen counter, humidity is actually going down as the temp comes up but dont feel like it to me.

Got the tree mess hauled away last night. Went to dump where I have been and someone put up a dirt berm at the entrance so I couldnt pull in. So I went to a local township building where Ive dumped tree waste before and their pile is WAY down compared to what its been the last couple of times but they had a pile off to the side that was still smoldering/ glowing red. and no "fire babysitter anywhere to be seen. Mine is still very "green" so I dumped it a ways away from what they had burning....

I hate mice and squirrels.
Managed to get FF running long enough to get up by the carport so I could work on it.
Removed all the seat/fenders and under brackets to remove tank. Thankfully I did, there were pieces of plastic inside tank. I think I'm going to do a degrease/pressure wash while I have it up here by water and electric.

omg

With high humidity and high temps, you get thunderstorms....which can create more work.
We had a tree that was lying intop of too other trees, my son wa working on getting a tree company he works with at the parks to come down them. Well the storm took care of that. Thankfully the wind twisted the worst one and kept it from crushing our two carport that have tractors in mine, son has an expensive dirt bike in his.
So looks like we will be tree cutting in the next week or so.

I also have been working on FF24 a bit. I decided to replace the fuel line again as the cheapo stuff I installed the first time bubbled where it laid against hydro valve. I ran the new piece in a short length of pvc electrical conduit. I also plan to do a "rolling restore" just putting some lipstick ona pig in a few months so I painted the frame black and the underneath of the fenders. Just a quick scuff and shoot. I got them all installed, but I still need to get lines hooked back up, new plugs and get it running.

I bought a silver metallic and a light gray, decided I like the gray best. It's just a little lighter than factory.

Wow, Marty! Glad the trees didn't cause bad damage! Are there any holes poked in the canvas?

It can be surprising how long a "scuff and paint" can last! If no grease or oils are on the metal, it might last a lifetime!

Yes my son pulled off a limb and got at least 1 tear. It's been up for 3 years so it's getting thin. I told him we can buy another large tape and drape over it like I did my other tent carport. He's also dealing with buying a house so he said he'll probably leave it for me.....like I need another spot to store stuff

A person can never have enough spots to store stuff, Marty! Looks like a good tent carport to repair.

Have you thought about using billboard vinyl for the cover? An outfit called "Repurposed Material" usually has a lot of them in a wide variety of sizes and prices. Lot thicker and tougher than the regular covers. Just a thought.
