What did you do with your tractor today?

Another tractor on the hoist. Ya I spelled it. In for winter service. Gasket on fuel pump leaking oil. I’ll make a gasket for that. Grease and oil change. Few bolts loose on base pan. One backed out half way. Snow blower needs a little fix up on the skid mount, checked tire pressure. Charge up the battery. Checked rear end fluid. And just a general look over. It doesn’t get used much. Only used for snow clean up around house and garage. Doesn’t do the parking area and 800’ driveway any more. Might get 10 to 20 hours use each year.

Doin garden clean up today. Putting the potato tops in the dump. Used the MF 12 to do that, then used it to load bark and saw dust on the trailer , which the Case is hooked to. Will take the Case and trailer to the garden and spread the bark and saw dust. More clean up and bark, saw dust to clean up and spread yet. Then till it in.

Got some seat time on the MF8E today plowing snow. It was around zero wind chill but it was better than yesterday at least.

Tractor worked flawlessly and the full-length skid I built for the blade worked as intended too. Didn't gouge the gravel anywhere!

I did my 3rd last cut of the season. I mean it this time!

This warm snap made the grass thick like spring time and a few dandelions are popping up! My youngest daughter picked 3 of them for me yesterday!

It all ends Wednesday evening with cooler weather.

Not tractor related but I took my bike for one more ride today. About 40 miles. Very enjoyable. I am so happy I bought it. Been a blast. Ive gotten a few thousands miles on it already. I figured I'd barely hit a 1000 miles but they pile on quick.

Cut some grass with the 51 Ferguson and rear finish mower. Hoping to help keep the snow drifts down this winter across the driveway. Grass was not cut this year. Can’t post videos here , so a few pictures any way. Video on Facebook RGT’s. It was cold doin that today.

Nothing at all. IH Cub with the thrower is right in front of the shed door ready to go. Walk behind is in front of the other door and will come up to the garage when we get the threat of snow. Polaris Ranger gets 90% of the work now days with the cab and dump box so much handier than a tractor and cart.

Laid on the floor and studied the neutral slide bracket on one Farm King because it looks like I am going to have to make one for the other Farm King. I have only found one and its a maybe because the guy is going to part out the tractor but hasn't had time to look at it yet.

After doing more work on sons garage and doing a clean up, moved some wood inside for burning and organizing stuff, we got the room back to be able to put the two tractors that were put outside, back inside for the winter. They take up a lot of room. I would say with in the next few weeks the hoist will be clear and the Ferguson tractor will go in that spot. If hoist is needed out the Ferguson will go, then back in after work Is done. The 1951 Ferguson is a tough old bird, it’s been outside most of its life I’d say before we got it.

Sons truck on hoist now. He is changing the differential gears. Because he’s young, he likes to modify his truck a little. Truck came with 29.5/30” tall tires when he bought it new, in 2011. It had the stock diff gears of 3:73. So over time he ended up with 33” tall tires. This change the gearing quite a bit, which made it sluggish. Hardly pull the empty trailer let alone put any thing in the trailer. So he’s changing the differential gears to 4:56. The rear has been done. What a difference it made. Hehe. Just don’t put it in 4 wheel drive yet. Any way, he’s doing the front diff now. It’s a lot more work to do. Front diff has to come out of truck to put the gears in. Be a week or more before it’s done and out, then the Ferguson tractor can go in. be a screamer if he ever goes back to stock tire size. Hehe.
My truck is the same as his, other than it an 2005. Mine came from the factory with 31” tall tires and 4:10 diff gears. Was a package, level 2.
