What did you do with your tractor today?

Hey Noel, Mowing Monday for once---LOL! Had to go fill the gas cans first, $3.65 per gallon for non ethanol dang it. Showed my wife how to operate the Bolens/MTD LT and made a lap around the abandon half acre next door so she could see where to mow within what I did. Turned her loose and she did fine. Said the steering was loose but got used to it. Prepped the MF12G and started on our yard, doing the ditches out front both places and the drainfield and other very irregular turf. The tractor she was on scalps bad. She got done over there and started on the flat areas of our yard. We knocked both places out in just a little over two hours. The only drama was I rubbed a rear tire against her clawfoot bathtub/planter hard enough a leg fell off. Had to bring out a floor jack and lift it up to put the leg back on after we were done. At least it didn't break off! Did the trimming, blew the clippings off the concrete areas then took apart the A/C condenser covers. It was loaded up pretty thick with cottonwood. Shop vaced and brushed that good. Then it was time to sit at the computer for awhile. Nothing done on the truck today.

Thank goodness we got a Mowing Monday report. Hehe. Sounds like you both had a busy day Doug.

My wife hardly even looks at the grass, let alone think about cutting it. !

$1.30 per litre here for gas. Which has 10% ethanol. High test, no ethanol is around 1.40 here.

My wife has been saying that she need to learn how to use the ZT, well Sunday she finally did do some mowing as lately I have not been feeling the greatest, cancer drug just makes me tired just walking across the room sometimes.

She's been wanting to help for several years now, Noel. When her uncle gave us those non-running LT's last year, she claimed the John Deere 160. The Bolens/MTD was by far in better shape and cheapest to get useable so she got it instead. I kept telling her that the MF12G is a little too "macho" for her. Sometimes it is for me too---LOL!

That was part of the reason why my wife wants to know how to use a mower, if I get where I can't for a while she can pull up the slack.

Those chemo drugs can take quite a while to come back from but you will and be your old self again soon Rad!

Brought the 1650 IH Cub up and dropped the better deck off. Put it back in the machine shed and brought the Cub Diesel up. Put the good deck under it so it is ready to go right after dinner. Got Carolyn's LT1018 out and ready to go. Had to adjust the diesel deck to match the LT's deck height. Lt is notches and the diesel deck is infinite height adjustment. Both ready to go this afternoon when it has it all dried off. Nice NE breeze blowing now and not bad out there at all.

A little loader work with the MF 12 loader tractor. Roots growing up out of ground and when going over with the mower, chewin off the roots. So I put a little ground there and leveled it out. May not get the roots now with the mower.

I've got a lot of exposed roots in the front yard too , Noel. Good job covering yours. I should probably bring in some dirt, but then I would have to seed and water---LOL! Instead I just pound the poor old MF12G over them while mowing. The blades don't hit the roots at least.

Dug some rocks up. I’ve had to do this twice in six years. These things almost pop up like weeds. I mow this particular field around 5-6” and recently I clipped a few rocks. I’ve never seen so many rocks like we have. I once dug for post hole and dug across over 3’ and never seen the other end. I just busted up what was in my way and left it.

I’ve been watching this one for a few years. It’s getting closer and closer. It started out showing about a foot across now it’s over 4’.

Back when I was in high school my older brother and I ran across a rock about 3' across near the corner of a pasture were were crossing to a rabbit hunting spot. About 25 years later I drove by that same area and that rock was 4' above ground and close to 15' across. In this country (Iowa) winter freezing will push them up but won't say that is the case with this one.
