Workin' on the Old Tractors

That thing takes nice pictures. Bought one of those years ago thinking it would be something I'd use. Nope not once. :(

Like wise I bought one maybe 10-12 years ago I've used it a half dozen times but sure doesn't do like yours cjet but I know the tech how has improved problem 10 fold
For the size of it it does do pretty good. Guess I'm used to the new high res camera's. It sure makes it nice not having to tear something open to see and then have to put it back together to keep the weather out.

Started some shop clean up under the bridge crane. This area had the whole floor covered with junk and 2 sawhorses with a wide 12 ft long board for a second layer. The 10' W x 18' L area is the main assembly area for tractors after painting them. Needed to get this spot cleared out so I can get to the backlog of tractor projects. I haven't seen this chunk of floor in probably 10+ years.

The internals of the BO look to be in great shape yet, CJet. The borescope doesn't have to have portrait quality images to show what a person needs to know, obviously. I have a cheapie HF one that comes in handy now and then. Still glad I bought it. Never used the interface to take any pics with it on a laptop. I actually have an old laptop out here in the shop now so should try it sometime!

I bought a cheep on of Amazon a couple years ago. Not the best move for sure but served for what I needed it for. Couple weeks ago my son was down and gave me a brand-new Ridged bore scope. Need to get it in and play with it some.

I have an old cheap laptop in the shop, runs on XP. Have all the tractor and equipment manuals on CD and run them on the laptop but it is

More shop cleaning and put up a 10.5' shelf to put a bunch of the oil buckets, boxes, and jugs on. Still need more shelf but have to dig through the 1x boards in the barn for something the same 13" width. Its all progress and slowly freeing up some floor space. Looking at dismantling a rolling work bench that just collects junk and sits in the middle of the work area taking up space. Might use the bottom plywood piece to make a dolly for our Miller Bobcat welder/generator. The welder is currently sitting on a trailer that takes up a bunch of room. The trailer can be parked up on the farm until we need it.

Had the John Deere Club President drop off the sheet metal for his 730 diesel. He sandblasted the parts and put the JD buff primer on. He wants the dents taken out and then painted. This is a 2-tone green and yellow. Probably won't start on this for a week or two while I finish up the shop cleanup.

I forgot to say congrats on exposing some floor that hasn't been seen in over a decade, CJet! Looks like the JD sheet metal will be a fun project!

If I can keep it going I should be able to get a couple tractors in this area and still have room to work on the pieces that get pulled off.

The john Deere sheet metal looks decent. The fenders and flywheel cover are really straight. Hood needs some work and the grille needs the most done to it. You never know for sure until you get into it.

Extended the shelf another 7.5' and got some more oil cases and 5 gallon buckets up off of the floor. I need to install a couple braces but have to move the sandblast cabinet first.

Seems like there is never enough self space in a shop.
We only have a couple shelves for smaller stuff like this. We do have some shelving along the original back wall of the shop for engines and parts. Its stacked full and I plan to add more storage vertically along with thinning out what we are keeping. So much engine stuff has become obsolete for our use at this point. We used to have a fleet of Datsun vehicles that we had spare engines for and no longer need them. I'm thinking about running some of that stuff through the local auction to see if anyone wants it or if we would be better to scrap it. Either way it would be out of the shop which is a good thing.

Hmmm Datsun parts ... Im sure there's people out there those parts would interest. Problem being finding those people..not sure if an auction would be the lost and found.. ;) Unless they'd advertise them a bunch..

I still call Nissan's Datsuns---LOL! Brother-in-laws first car was a '68 Datsun 510. I owned a '74 Datsun pickup for a couple of years back in the late '80's.

Great work making space, CJet!

Dad had a Datsun 1200 that he drove for years when he was teaching auto mechanics. It was 100 mile round trip. I think he got 40+ MPG. Then he got a 1970 Datsun pickup followed by a 1969 510. I still have a 1975 Datsun pickup.

Yep the shop is getting better slowly. I wish I had a container to put stuff in to free up space in a hurry. I have a 20' box truck body but it needs work.

Cleaned up all of the scrap metal in and around the metal bandsaw. Then moved over to the Blast cabinet. It was still on the delivery pallet but I pulled it off now. Had to remove all of the sand to make it light enough to move. The spot where the blast cabinet was will be the new home for the Rotary Broach.
