Its a 1938 17T per wikiI've never seen one like that. That would be a keeper and probably worth some bucks these days. Do you know what year that is?
A friend from high school had a 240 Z. It was a fun car to drive but it had a really touchy throttle. When you first stepped on the gas it seemed to snap the throttle open. Had to really feather it in. Years later a girl friend had a 280 ZX. Also a fun car to drive.I always wanted a Datsun 280z! Love the look of those
From what I remember the 240Z's and the 280Z's were good cars. The 260Z's are the ones to stay away from. They were in the process of redoing their emission systems and the 260's were messed up. The owners didn't like them and neither did the mechanics. Biggest complaint was no power. The people that traded in their 240's for the new 260's were generally disappointed.I always wanted a Datsun 280z! Love the look of those
Well Cjet your wife can't ever say you just sit around the house..A little more progress today and able to see more floor. Another day or two and I should have this opened up enough to get some projects in the door when needed. This area was originally an 18'x50' lean-to and this will get about 30' of it back in use. Planning on bringing the 1942 John Deere BO in to pull the block and get a good look in the transmission. Might put the 1947 Farmall Cub under the bridge crane to get the engine swap done and then its the 1945 John Deere L's turn to finish painting and assembling.
No wife here. The girls I hang out with these days are literally a bunch of fat cows. Yes, the cub engine acts as the frame. The original engine has some rust pitted valve seats that need replacing so I pulled a cub engine off of our McCormick combine to install on this cub tractor until I can rebuild the original engine.Well Cjet your wife can't ever say you just sit around the house..
The engine swap in the Cub...isn't the motor part of the tractor ? meaning there's no frame rails right ?
I do remember those engines on the old combines. Just never thought too much what they were..No wife here. The girls I hang out with these days are literally a bunch of fat cows. If it was me and the combine engine ran good the other engine would never get rebuilt. Especially with all the projects you have waiting in the wings. The original engine has some rust pitted valve seats that need replacing so I pulled a cub engine off of our McCormick combine to install on this cub tractor until I can rebuild the original engine.
The main reason is that its a first year cub and I would like to keep the correct year casting code with the tractor. If it was me and the combine engine ran good the other engine would never get rebuilt. Especially with all the projects you have waiting in the wings.
