I used to have a Sears/roper hydro tractor. My son also had one.
One of them came to us with its original manual.
I remember it saying to use "type F and NOTHING ELSE". exactly like that ....
Thanks Doug. No, I don’t have a build thread here. I wasn’t even a member here yet the last time I worked on this tractor. I have one over on Only Cub Cadets though, I’ll go through that and copy and paste stuff here. You have a great start on it, Nick! I can't remember if you had a build thread but add to or start one please!

Your tractor looks exactly like mine with all that stuff on it Nick, I too got too much stuff. Miller Lite is great beer too by the way, its my favorite. I am looking forward to seeing your posts with progress on it! If I may ask, what did you use on the tins?I dug my 149 restoration project out of the corner and plan to start working on it again. It has been a shelf for the past 5 years. Hopefully I can actually finish it this time. I bought this tractor and started restoring it in December 2017. I think the last time I worked on it was in 2019 or 2020. It’s been way too long. I will start a new thread for it soon, I have a lot of pictures from when I was working on it, and some before pictures.

It is a lot of work, but I like it. I don’t paint my working tractors. Most of them are still original paint with scratches and dents, which I like. Plus if they get or dirty or scratched, it’s not the end of the world. When this tractor is done, I may cut grass with it a few times a year, or take it for a ride around the yard on nice days, and that’s about all. Maybe take it to some shows. Most of the time it will sit in the garage covered up.I admire you guys that do the down to the last nut restore project. I don't have the patients for that. I stop with a refurbish and put them to work, except the last one. An IH built 782 Cub Cadet. Rebuilt the engine to +30, painted a lot of parts, some new footwear and run it about an hour. Sat all last year covered in the machine shed but hope to break it in good this spring. Has a good deck under it but did a cover up on the seat.
Don't look like you have a whole lot to do Nick. Looking pretty nice..Everything was painted with Nason Ful-Cryl.

Thanks. These are the wheels and tires that were on it when I got it, but they are not correct. This size was an option on the lower horsepower tractors in this series, but as far as I know, all 149’s came from the factory with wider ones front and back. I have another set of the correct size wheels and tires, front and back, that will be going on it. I just put these ones back on for now so I could roll it around.Don't look like you have a whole lot to do Nick. Looking pretty nice..
Are those front tires (size) and wheels factory to the tractor ?
Almost looks like there should be wider ones on it ?
Someone recently got a 1970 Model 1253 Bolens Tractor with a 10 hp Tecumseh engine Model HH100. It is like the 1966-ish Craftsman machine you are hunting for! The same engine at least and some of the same style ques.I dug my 149 restoration project out of the corner and plan to start working on it again. It has been a shelf for the past 5 years. Hopefully I can actually finish it this time. I bought this tractor and started restoring it in December 2017. I think the last time I worked on it was in 2019 or 2020. It’s been way too long. First thing, I need to get it running again. It’s probably going to need the carburetor cleaned and a new battery. I had this motor rebuilt, and it still needs to be broken in. I only had it running once for a few minutes. It needs to be cleaned up too. Even though it was inside and covered, it’s still dusty and covered with spiderwebs. All of the yellow parts are done, I have a few white parts that still need to be painted, and I think I’m going to redo the hood and dash. If I actually work on it, it shouldn’t take too long to get it done. I will start a new thread for it soon, I have a lot of pictures from when I was working on it, and some before pictures.

At least it's a relatively minor problem, shouldn't be too bad to fix
