What are you currently working on??

I took a page out of your book @TAHOE and redid my car headlights today after I got home from dialysis since it was another 55 degree day. I like you started out at 220 grit then went to 320, then 600 then 1500 then 2000 then used some compound then some polish. They are definitely better than they were….

Look good Eric. But you might want to put a clear coating of sorts on them as they' won't stay that way long.
There's different coatings available, which one is best is debatable.
I've used the one below (2k 2in1) with good results. Not cheap but works. Another is Cerakote (headlight restore kit) . Works great but you're buying their whole kit.

I'm not up on paint terms or formulas, the ones I'm familiar with aren't made no more but I thought "2k" meant 2 stage as in base/clear?
The 2k cans are 2 part, the have a plunger in the bottom you push and break a bladder inside which then mixes the paint and catalyst. If I was to use the cans, I would make sure I had a lot to clear coat, they are expensive and short shelf life once mixed.

Of the shelf regular spray clear coat does not have the UV protestants, I would worry the lights would fog up in a year or two, then you have to deal with the clear coat on top of the yellowing plastic.

They're only giving you 7.1 oz for your $25..probably just enough to do 2 headlights.
By comparison the Cerakote kit is around $17.
Both will probably give you 2-4 years. maybe more..

The mower shop that gave me the Roper for my tow tractor called and said they had a junk Craftsman with a cast iron axle that would fit the Roper. Went after it, removed the axle, cleaned and painted. Installed it in the Roper.20250225_122815.jpg20250225_122815.jpg20250225_123013.jpg

At halftime of the Tennessee game I went to the shop and put a tube into a leaky tire. Used tge Harbor Freight tire changer.
Tubes cost close to the price of a new tire!

Not a good day today. It was a 55 degree and sunny day so I figured I would paint some tractor parts, well I only got to paint one part before the wind came in and ruined my day. Here is the part I got done….

I put a coat on another part before the wind came, then I went to put another coat on it but then it got windy and I ruined it with a paint run. So now I gotta start over. And to make matters worse, the worse news is that while I was letting that part dry I figured I would put some clear coat on my truck headlights. Well, that didn’t end up so good either. I probably put too much on because the light is now cracked. Now I don’t know what to do besides to start over with resanding it, which I already started to do….

What are you currently working on??
Registries for my kind of 1966 to 1971 Craftsman tractors. If anyone has one or knows of one please let me know….

Nothing with the tractors in a bit but started pulling out a few push mowers today.
Didn't get far, got a call from a cop I know that lives near me, to check out his kids car.... Gotta get parts and head back over there tomorrow.
